PS. Forgot to say that the grounds and public areas were neat and tidy, and we enjoyed the surroundings.

On holiday just down the road from this pub. The Toll House is on the main road with very easy parking by side of road, but off road, (see picture). From outside, pub looks quite striking, Clean and cream, with flowery baskets punctuating the white picket fencing along the pavement frontage. There is an outside area with slab-stone paving and the usual wooden tables/benches/parasols, and smoking allowed. The fencing encloses the pub grounds, so is ok for children, though parents should always watch their kids as there is a small gate from the picket fence to the pavement. This is not a problem unless you are a negligent parent.
In this paved area there is a small wooden, open shelter (like a summer house) with seating and table, perhaps for dodging the rain ?
There is also a shady grass area to the rear of the little building that was the original Toll House. This is also equipped with benches, and if all is quiet, you may have some wild rabbits on the garden banking, at the rear, munching the grass!

Inside the pub, the first impression was of a clean and tidy place to eat and drink. A comfy dining room and a similar bar area. I dont drink Lagers, so cant comment on them, but there was a good selection of them. The BEER was limited. If memory serves, there was only 2 RINGWOOD ales, and by pure luck, one of my wifes and I favourite tipples.St. AUSTELLS TRIBUTE!!! My only complaint about the beer is that it was served up a tad too cool for a bitter, but it was fresh and clean tasting (luverly) but while sitting in the sun and chatting to the missus, the ale warmed up nicely! The pub was quiet that evening, so I took it on myself to chat with the owners, who were very, very friendly, and were a credit to their trade.
Although, Live music is advertised, it is on hold at the moment, due to a complaint from a new housing development over the road somewhere. Previous comments seem to indicate that the bands were good.
We eat in the dining room, which had the Beatles White album and Magical Mystery tour, playing very quietly in the back-ground. Quite liked that.
I had the Steak/ale /mushroom pie, and the Wife had the mixed fish pie. Both home cooked and were really delicious. As pensioners, we found the cost of around 36 including beer and 2 glasses of wine, reasonable.

I hope we holiday in the area again, as I would look forward to re-visiting the Toll house, and hope that it maintains the current standard that we experienced.

Another kickin' jazz night at the Tollhouse - this time courtesy of Jazz In Mind. Great music, great food and good well-kept booze. This pub must be Lymington's best-kept secret - check it out before the rest of the world discovers the Tolly.

Good food, a good range of well-kept beers, friendly landlord and landlady obviously caring about keeping a warm and welcoming inn. All this and regular blues and jazz evenings. This pub is a gem!

Excellent Ringwood beers served here, catering for all age groups. Keep up the good work.

Visited the tollhouse inn today after hearing it has had a refurb. Place is tidy and still has it's character. The landlord and landlady are lovely and the place feels warm and welcoming. Also had lunch which was the best cod and chips i've had to date. the staff are friendly and chatty really made us feel welcome. Would definately recommend it and will be returning. Excellent job!

Lasty few days its been dark and locked up, looks like it might have closed down again. Went there a few months back and it seemed pretty chaotic - didnt return, plenty of choice in Lym...

Yes I've been in a few times since it was taken over and have seen children at the bar, behind the bar, in and out of the various doors, not what makes a good atmosphere. The landlady is a bit loud and the fellow behind the bar has a personality of a breeze block, I suppose they will learn

So, here's what happened about a week ago. I go to the Toll House for a quiet Xmas drink with friends who live nearby. Nice looking place, we noted the 'new management' sign when we went in. We were surprised to see some very young children running around, several of whom were drinking Red Bull, not really suitable for kids. We settle down with our drinks but at a certain point the landllady (manager?) with a very strident voice starts kicking off at a customer at the bar who has obviously mentioned something about children in the pub. We try to ignore her (difficult, she has a real conversation-stopper voice) but we managed for a while until some other gents entered and after talking to the landlady she kicked off yet again - something about a bill for work done not presented correctly - anyway, it's not my business but my point is why make such a big show in front of paying customers? Needless to say we will be thinking twice before being subjected to another embarrassing spectacle again - don't wash your dirty linen in public, I would have expected at least some diplomacy and decorum.

Recently read in the Daily Echo the Tollhouse was to close. Hopefully it'll be saved and not turned into yet more over priced flats Lymington doesn't need.
A pub with character in the day - one of only a few left in Lymington, it will be a shame to see it go.

Not a good idea if you are a hungry Hockey player and expecting food from this establishment! Beckoned back by the Lymington players only to be greeted by a plate of chips and 6 sausages sliced to share between 12 people! quite frankly a joke!

Give this place the swerve and stay at home!

A nice find! Stopped off here when lost in the New Forest one day. Not the best pub I've been to but a nice range of food and open fires which made it very cosy. Good service.
As I went here around Christmas time it was beautifully decorated which made it feel homely along with the massive open fire in the food section

What a find. Apparently new owners. Great beer and good wine selection.
Menu varied and interesting but not over priced with very pleasant garden and plenty of parking. Friendly service. Well worth a visit

The tolly is a grade A pub. No tosser tourists here, just good honest folk for a few beers after work. Great beer, fantastic neighbours, calm tranquil atmosphere.
