Yoyo pub. One minute its up and great and the next its no good. At the moment it is failing miserably. The owners, New River appear to be doing nothing. The current landlord is grossly incompetent and has had the nerve to bar customers for telling him so. No beer, no customers, no hope.

This pub is currently under new ownership and it has returned to the Good Beer Guide after 3 year''s absence. It''s a fairly basic place with plenty of space for live bands to play. There''s also an area with a pool table. Locals seemed a bit suspicious of strangers. But the landlord was pleasant. Ales were Three Tuns XXX, Salopian Golden Thread, Wye Valley HPA & Butty Bach, Dark Star Hophead & Itchen Valley New Hampshire. The solitary cider was Old Rosie. There''s a small patio area outside. Decent and offers a CAMRA discount too.

There have been some changes in the management here. This has led to a great deal of redecoration and refurbishment both inside and outside but with no loss of character. Martin keeps the six ales and ciders in decent condition and the music scene is as active as ever. The dogs are a nuisance and have upset some customers and their lack of control does spoil what is one of the best pubs around.

The two ladies that initiated my previous review have left much to the relief of all concerned. They did not have a clue. The young chaps who took over just before Christmas have been very enthusiastic about getting in the customers choice of ales and reverting back to decent live music. They have also made a start on redecoration. Last Friday there were three ales from Hobsons and three from Three Tuns plus Cheddar Valley cider. Worth a visit.

In the last few weeks if you had just taken over the best rock music and real ale pub in the district.....
Would you tell your customers in no uncertain terms that they can longer congregate outside with their drinks whilst having a cigarette?
Would you put on an Olly Murs tribute band?
Would you show naff pop music videos?
Would you promise to introduce karaoke and bingo?
Well, guess what? Everybody has voted with their feet, taking with them their friends and familiies who used to join them in here. Other local bars are suddenly benefiting from their new found customers .
I would suspect there is a deliberate plan to close and demolish The Wrekin and build flats. A real shame.
Still serving five beers but with less turnover now the quality must suffer.

A lovely pub with superb beer. I'm not usually too keen on single-room pubs but this one was fine. I would imagine that on a night with a band playing this would be a great place to spend the evening.

The Wrekin Inn has just been included in the 2011 CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the first ever - well deserved as there are always 6 good real ales on tap.

A good pub with 6 real ales always on. Comfortable and only 5 mins walk from the railway station. They hold beer festivals. Deserves to be in GBG.

Salopian Maori on tap at the moment.

A pub which is "work in progress". Quite a good real ale selection, but was disappointed to see none from Shropshire breweries when I visited.

There's always an interesting selection of well kept real ales plus scrumpy. Live music on Sunday afternoons, plus 'open mike' sessions on Tuesdays. Darts is played here and a quiz night is to be introduced. This pub seems to be establishing itself quite well. Highly recommended.

Newcomer to the real ale scene but friendly and pleasant with an interesting selection of ales and certainly deserves support. I'll definately be visiting more frequently than usual.

Only six handpumps in evidence on Thursday 16/04. 3 from Titanic and 3 from Batemans. Had a pint of the Batemans Eggs-B and a pint of the Titanic English Glory. Both were well kept. Nicely refurbished pub with a seating/dining area to the left of the door, dartboard to the right. Had a pleasant chat with the landlord and one of the regulars. Theyre having a beer festival next week for St Georges day and intend to have more throughout the year. All in all a good pub that should be added to any crawl round Wellington.

New landlord is trying to make this a real ale drinker's paradise and is well on the way to achieving that. Spartan decor, but 8 good ales on and a good social and entertainment programme planned, including "Meet teh Brewer" events. I tried the Holden's Gold and Titanic Steerage, both superbly kept and thoroughly enjoyable. I will definitely make a point of coming back next time I'm in Telford.
