This is owned by the same people who own The Bootlegger opposite the train station, hence the large beer selection and similar decor inside. Although not as popular it is just as pricey! The food is good though but the Black Rock Grill is an absolute rip off! Not bad for a one off but a bit to pricey to call it your regular pub!

Finally got through the front door, no private parties or irregular hours to transpire against me this time. It's effectively a restaurant that allows people (that aren't riff-raff) in for a drink, the place was fully booked so the 5 of us were crammed along the bar with the drinkers and the eaters getting into each others way. I guess the food must be good and there is an Africa meat theme, Camel, Kudu, Springbok, Camel etc very pricey though. 2 Rebellion beers on, IPA and Smuggler, not bad.

Watch out for the weird old lady who calls herself the 'owner'. She will sit down at your table while you're trying to enjoy your meal and tell you about her bladder tablets and boring stories about how she likes to walk her dog. She is very snobbish, spoke down to us (and everyone else) the whole night and speaks to the staff like they're dirt . She single-handedly ruined my dining experience. Felt sorry for the staff all night, they are spoken to horribly and I won't be coming back here and the owners are clearly not very nice people.

Fantastic!

I come here often, food is great, beer is great, staff are friendly, a really great place to visit! to be honest one of the cleanest pubs I have ever seen! not sure why people are running it down! High Wycombe needs a place like this! no drunk idiots like you get at some places in High Wycombe, I would suggest going down and checking it out! you can't go wrong!

It clearly says on the website that this pub is open all day Saturday, it isn't, fruitless journey made and rather annoyed about that, I haven't rated it, I will do once I actually get through the front door.

Closed on Tuesday for private party. Shame, it was very cold outside. Will try again some time

A good looking bar with a great selection of beers and a good menu. That's where the compliments end though. I was in with a friend and we both ordered a pint of London Pride - it was served at the same temperature as lager should be served.
The food looks very inviting but was disappointed to find that my bangers and mash had been served with gravy AND beans without being asked for my preference. One or the other please. I also had my suspicions that the mash came out of a packet. Great menu but executed poorly.
I thought that the beer was a bit on the expensive side, although I couldn't fault their selection of bottled beers - can't go wrong with them as long as the customer pours it themself.
