please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Unbelievably rude and quite disgusted with they're behaviour particularly towards my fiance. We wont be going back.

This is an awful place. Got there at 7.45 last night (I'm a girl and I was with another girl) to join friends who'd been there for an hour or so, and already it was 'guestlist only'. Went through the whole trying-to-call-friends-inside, who couldn't hear phones, etc etc, until 10 minutes later the bouncer randomly decides we can go in now. It was meant to be happy hour until 8, but the barman decided at 5 to 8 that it was no longer happy hour (I was getting the feeling it was never happy hour at this place). Thought I'd put my bag into the cloakroom so that I wouldn't have to worry about it. Had an ominous feeling about my blackberry but left it in there anyway. Sure enough, it was no longer there when I collected the bag. I spotted this but didn't want to wrongly accuse anyone, thought I'd wait until i got home to have a proper look... No blackberry. Cheers!!

I really wish I could pop a positive review on this place - well, any review - but chances of that were scuppered by a doorman who clearly had some personal problems and decided to take it out on the customers.

A group of about 9 of us - balanced, 4 girls, 5 guys - decided to go along there after a work drink, so got there about half 12, all happy, no one drunk. We waited outside despite there being no queue, whilst the bouncer looked us all over, then proclaimed that we could all come in barring one guy. Seems a bit odd, so we dared to question why was that, when he started doing that usual I-will-never-be-more-than-a-bouncer-but-I-have-the-power-now shite and gave it the old 'I don't have to f*cking explain myself to you, he ain't coming in'. After gentle persuasion he eventually came up with the mind-blowing reason 'I don't think he can handle the stairs'. I can assure you now that the member of our group in question is not a Dalek

Sad fact is, that's none of us ever trying to go back there, and if anyone aks us if we can recommend a good venue, that will never be it, all down to one doorman who has given us the impression the place ain't worth going to

Sad

Dark and Dingy. Drinks poor. Best avoided.

For a packed Saturday night, this place wasn't as painful as some West End bars can be.. the staff were friendly & patient, the music was funky & had most people bopping about all night.
We were able to find a table & seats straight away, so that wasn't a problem either.
Bit of a letch-fest on the girls but you generally get what you expect from a bar like this.

Yep. Interchangeable with pretty much any other bar in the area, this is a fairly unremarkable drinking establishment. They did have a 2 for 1 offer on bottled beer when I got there, and 2 pint pitchers are about 6 or 7 quid. Expensive, but not outrageously so for the area. No complete arseholes amongst the staff (although I live in London, and therefore don't tip when buying beer - barstaff take note). Bog troll in the gents' can also be safely disregarded without fear of retribution in the form of being called a "stingy c***". Lack of unreserved seats a major issue though.

Its a bar come club in Soho, and in that way its completely unremarkable. Its no worse or better than any others in the area. The beer werent too warm when I went a few Saturdays ago, bar service was slow (too few bar staff, a few tips early on help this seems quite standard in the area, terrible practice).

If you want a proper pub (or club), stay clear of this place and probably the area in general, but for pissed night out, with a dancefloor for when you can resist the pop cheese no more, it aint that bad.

Definitely a shit hole, but then what do you expect in Soho? There are worse places around for sure. Best avoided.

Horrible place!! Come here at your own risk... extremely rude door staff, terrible service, overpriced drinks and nasty atmosphere all make for a very bad expererience... I am relieved just knowing that I never have to come here again!! And I won't!!!!

Early in the evening it's not too bad for cocktails or bottled beers - but once the wannabees start arriving it's time to get out quick.

I don't know what you're all moaning about.. I found Bar Lupo quite a pleasant experience. Good seating for big groups.. dimly lit with wee candels.

Ok... so I wasn't drinking beer, but i felt a bottle, and it seemed pretty cold to me.

Ok again.. the barman found it more important to stack glasses than serve me, was miserable and dribbled the wine into my glass spilling most down the side.

But hey.. You can't have everything.

Stay well clear of this awful place.

The beer is almost always warm and it's full of suits on a Fri night.
Tizer - 23 May 2005 14:03
yeah pretty shite in here really,...one of those arsey dumps that think they can charge what they like for beer that has bypassed the fridge and come straight from the box,...seen it done in there,..rude as you like,....

we work locally, as despite the choice of places to go for an after work drink, Lupo is a favourite. Why? the 2 for 1 happy hour on bottled beer, always able to get a seat and opening hours til 3am

Had a private party there last friday venue was great doormen very helpful atmosphere was buzzing and music good. Would definately recomend it to hire as you only have to do a minimum bar spend which is easy

My first grumble of the night was the warm beer. I tried four different bottles, all of which were warm, although the bar staff didn't seem too bothered about this and the warm beer continued to be served all night.

Secondly, after being seated for over an hour with a group of friends, we were TOLD by the rude security guard that we had to stand because the small table we were seated at was reserved, and although there was no sign on the table, it didn't matter. A friendly explanation and a few manners would have gone a lot further than brash rudeness. I guess the security guard missed his Customer Service class at bouncer school.

And finally, after buying a shot of tequila for my friend on his birthday, the rude bar girl put the drink next to the person standing beside me, and when I turned round the shot had been stolen (probable by accident). I explained this to the bar girl as she handed back my change but she said that it wasn't her problem. I explained to her that I hadn't seen the drink, but it still wasn't her problem. Once again, she must have missed her customer services class at bar girl school.

This is the first time I have left a non positive comment on a website and thats because I felt cheated buying over priced warm beer in a place of rude employees. I hope this prompts the management team to look at their staff training a little more closely as the venue is really cosy, although I won't be going back to re-evaluate.

I used to be a big fan, and several of my friends have held parties there. I used it as the venue for my 28th birthday, and that's when the love affair ended. They told a friend of mine who is a wheelchair user that she would be able to access the basement bar, but when she arrived an hour later said they didn't have enough staff on hand to allow it. Then they overcharged me on my bar tab by 270 pounds. My string of calls and letters to the manager were unanswered, and eventually I gave up. Be warned!

what a little boon - a Soho pub, with an outside chance of a seat, a week day happy hour till 8pm and not impossible to find!
pub-numpty - 9 Mar 2004 09:38
One of the best bars I've been to, the music is great and the people too.
I had a very good time with my friends; I'll definitely go back.

A bar in London, does it really need any more detail? Of its kind in the vicinity, it's not too bad, and can get some lookers in there.

Don't do what I did and leave your credit card behind the counter though. After cashing up and receiving a preposterously high bill which included drinks I hadn't ordered, I queried it with the bar manager who was good enough to deduct a nominal amount.
In fairness to Lupo's though, only an idiot or a billionaire would leave their card at the bar on a big night out.
I am not a billionaire.
