Beer quality has improved which is good and there are more people visiting. The beer tends to be cooler than the white wine which should encourage more clients to drink beer instead

Went there on Saturday night and it was very quiet with karaoke which seemed to drive away other non regulars. Beer OK quality but nothing special. I wish the current owners would decide what they want to do with this pub as it has a lot of potential with all of the new homes being built in the surrounding area.

Where to start.... food just tends to be reheated ingredients from the sunday roast and the beers are either not on or tend to result in a morning on the loo. The owner and manager (I assume they are related because they're equally miserable) tend to prefer to cater for the regulars and ignore other customers. I was stood at the bar for twenty minutes, and when I asked the younger one (she looks a bit like Miranda) who was serving, she told me he was on a fag break! There have been rumours that this pub is being sold at some point because the owners aren't interested. Judging from the half arsed service and the fact they seem to be shut or having a private party most nights, that's not surprising. Hopefully the new owners will know how to run a pub with a prime location and market. Also, the barman never washes his hands after cig breaks or the toilet

This pub does not seem able to serve cold white wine so my wife doesn't like it. The Ale in contrast seems cold! Work that one out? Needs someone running the place who knows what they are doing. This place used to be rocking now it's closed by 2130 some evenings.

Badly run pub! Unfriendly service, poor choice of drinks.

We have had bad experiences with this pub. We went on Sunday 25th Aug with 2 great nieces (9 and 11) as they have bouncy castles. We asked the price for the kids to go on the bouncy castles and were told that they were for the exclusive use of a private party! Our kids couldn't use the facilities!

There were no signs up saying that this was private and we felt that we shouldn't be there despite them apparently allowing the public in to buy drinks.

I can't see why our kids couldn't have been allowed to go on the bouncy castles, but this pub seems to have a thing about private parties.

If the management want to use this venue for private parties, why can't they put up signs. It is supposed to be a PUBLIC house!!

This brings me to an earlier visit one evening perhaps a year or so earlier. We went into the pub one evening which was very busy, got to the bar and ordered 2 drinks. As soon as the drinks were placed on the bar, somebody touched me on the shoulder to say that the pub was for the exclusive use of a private party, and that we had to leave. We told them that there were no signs up or restrictions on the door, we just walked in, but they just said we weren't welcome so we walked out, leaving our drinks unpaid for at the bar.

This pub seems to be constantly dreaming up all sorts of crazy ideas (a skating rink at Christmas ffs) and some weird Christmas themed garden attractions to name but a few, all of which appear to have flopped never to return again!

This pub needs to decide if it's a pub, a private club, or a theme park.

The choice of drinks is pathetically limited, they couldn't even supply fizzy orange for the kids?? As previous reviewers have stated, the range of alcoholic drinks is pisspoor and service is slow and unfriendly.

Avoid this place at all costs. Our visit on the 25th August is our last!

This pub has new owners who are determined to improve its image.

It is nice enough inside and has copious beer garden out the back and therefore has plenty of promise but unfortunately my first visit could have been better.

The staff are great, the beer and food not so. All three ale pumps were off leaving just Guinness and a couple of lagers. The range in the fridge was limited as well.

My Ham, Egg & Chips was amateurish. Cold ham, over cooked chips and eggs that looked like Basil Fawlty had laid them.
My wifes jacket potato was dry but she did say the wine was ok.

Full marks to owners for trying, but they have some work to do.

Good selectrion of real ales - tried the Flying Scotsman and it was OK. Live Music was good today (sunny). Missus enjoyed the white wine so all in all a good time had by all. Shame they close early during the week - sign of the times due to lack of customers so can't blame them. Our local so we'll definitely support the pub!!

Cracking pub, along the canal. Live music, huge outdoor agedne ie field. Lanlord makes a BIG effort for kids. Absolutely top rank. Staff a bit slow though.
How a pub should be run. WELL DONE!

Called in recently but the pub was being redecorated so held back on commenting until the work was done.

A very tasteful job has been done (in my opinion). The staff were cheerful and the clientelle pleasant. There was a 'jam session' in progress and the music was definitely worth listening to - not too loud (does that mean I'm getting old).

The Bombadier was off so I had a couple of Young's and was very pleased with the quality. Unfortunately i arrived late due to delays on the train so missed the food, but since I'll be going back I will have plenty of opportunity to try it in the future.

This my nearest pub & despite the post code is actually in Kings Langley.
Beer usually good - 2 real ales most times.
Some good bands on.
