I've always found the landlord and staff most conversational - why can't others? As for the bar area, it's a most convivial area, the restaurant area is separate and available to those who wish to dine. Furthermore, the village green with seating and tables opposite the pub is available to users of the pub - what's not to like?

As per the previous posts, I must agree, this place is really a restaurant. It is decorated in some very bright colors. The beer was in good condition so can't fault that. The staff were less than 'socialable'. Will I visit again?? Probably not.

Pub looks terrific from the outside, old & atmospheric. However, bright yellow interior & very much geared to diners. Two of the rooms are set for formal dining & there are only 4/5 tables in the main, small bar area. Food not cheap, but good under new management. Small beer selection, but the one I had was in very good nick. Not a pub for serious drinking in.

There were three beers on the handles, mine was in very good condition. The soup was tasty. Not too busy at lunchtime when I called, but nevertheless it was an enjoyable experience

Beer was excellent

My food was pretty good too, however my missus said hers was bland.

Service was not very attentive, however friendly enough when it did happen.

All in all not as good as it used to be, but still worth a visit.

Popped in for a pint having moved back to the area after 6 years. Lovely little pub in a very pretty village. Three ales on tap, I tried 2 which were excellent. Despite having to wait a while to order as the bar lady was dealing with a large group she kept acknowledging us so we knew she hadn't forgotten us - excellent customer service. Didn't eat but menu was varied and food looked good.

Excellent pub in an old bakery shop and adjoining house. Very good selection of real ales, good food reasonably priced and despite being very busy good efficient service. Can't fault it!

Has now got new residents who have shown how to do decent pub food without involving 3663 or Brake Brothers.

Excellent food, good real ale including the magnificant Otter and a nice beer garden.

Downside is that due to the dirth of decent food pubs in the area it has got very busy, this has led to some fractious conversations between the staff and the punters.
