Saturday 16th April 2016 & it was being painted externally, looks like it may be opened again one day.

And still closed and boarded up for what 2 years now? They need to either demolish it or do something else with it!
EyeOfTheTigerBeer - 13 Apr 2013 17:59
More like Dead Orleans.
JabbingJubbly - 13 Mar 2013 12:58
Now Closed.

Still closed NoDisgrace. I pass this place on route to work and mysteriously the signs are still up, though it has been closed since autumn 2010.

As I mentioned back then, forget the longest bar (and restaurant) refurbishment in Guildford's history, this is surely by now the longest refurbishment ever in England!

A considerable waste of a fairly decent location in Guildford, especially given the area for outside drinking/eating potential and of course, the ease of nearby parking.
Searching_for_H_Files - 23 Jan 2012 10:19
Still shut.
Not a problem as lots of decent nearby drinking places. I live close by and will keep an eye on a possible opening date.

Yep, went passed the other day and mysteriously it's still closed.
wezmiester - 17 Apr 2011 15:31
Bit of a mystery this. Been closed for ages but with all signage and furniture apparently intact. Unsurprising as had been going downhill for some time, culminating in my last visit on a Winter evening when the heating wasn't working and it was absolutely freezing! Will not be missed.

Longest bar refurbishment in Guildfords history? Been closed for a while now.

Grubby little restaurant, dull menu, expensive beers and tired decor.

Avoid.
Pubspymaster - 23 Mar 2010 19:30
Only worth it if going to the cinema as well.

Food is less than average.

Beer is not special.

But I like the American theme as there are not many American theme places in the city.
best_pub_in_city - 21 Jun 2009 19:53
Personally I think it is a restaurant which serves beer. Not very good beer and a little on the pricey side, but location is all important as people in the pub and restaurant trade shall know. If your going to be near the cinema your going to attract customers. But this belongs on Restaurantintheevening.com
BestBeerBoffin - 17 Apr 2009 11:30
Ok - I suppose, I like the name and the fact its next to the cinema. Not a good choice of beer. Stella and Corona from last time i Saw.
GuildfordAndWoking - 26 Dec 2008 16:19
Pub of the day, but I have no understanding why. No good beer and over priced only worth visiting if going 2 the cinema or a river walk.
BigAleDrinkhead - 1 Nov 2008 18:06
No real Ale whatsoever in this place. Find it hard to give it a very good rating at all. 1/10 for being there.
TheSurreyPubMan - 2 Jul 2008 21:42
I think it cost me 3.20 for a bottle of Corona. Bottled drinks are always more when they contain less, whats that all about? Anyway its ok, it feels like being in some down-town american bar in here... Maybe that is because its called Old Orleans..!
TheSensiblePubReviewer - 29 Jun 2008 11:03
I dropped in after a hectic morning in court desperate for a coffee and was told that hot drinks were "off".

This would have been fine except that a member of staff could clearly be seen drinking a "hot drink".

I didn't ask them to go to the lengths of boiling a kettle just for me. I left and went elsewhere, and will continue to do so from now on.

I wouldn't recommend visiting the bar only if you wanted a swift one before watching a film in the Odeon cinema next door. Haven't been to the restaurant for a while but as I remember specialised in American style cuisine which was fairly nice. I think everyones' been to one of theses contrived theme bars in their time and this like most of them is very much of a muchness!
wezmiester - 10 Jul 2006 21:07
Went here last night & I have to say that the food was rather good - or better than I remembered anyway!

Despite it being a Monday night & only 15% full at best they didn't seem madly keen to look after us. Staff seemed to disappear from view for long periods. (Where do they go???)

We went to buy our own drinks at the bar and there was nobody there either!

When our waitress asked if everything was Ok with our food I turned to speak to her but she was already gone. (Speeding off back to wherever they all go!) I wanted to say "Beep-Beep" cos it was a classic Road Runner customer satisfaction check as opposed to one where they actually give a crap!

As per our usual experience here I never saw a manager until bill paying time.

Food was ok though...and they let my friends use their company vouchers. (They've been known to refuse.)
Sunny_Sunnarsson - 16 May 2006 13:52
Ugh. Ok for a quickie, but who wants to sit on the concrete & gaze at a picturesque view of the arse-end of Guildford? (A multi-storey car-park, industrial estate & another car-park?

I don't eat here much. The food's pretty generic frozen microwave and grill stuff & the management seem rude & indifferent. They are more interested in sitting in the office than taking care of business.

This is just my opinion of course, & to be fair I am never there long. I can't get served at the bar so I get fed-up & go somewhere else.
Sunny_Sunnarsson - 19 Apr 2006 19:22
Not so bad, nice for a pre/post cinema drink. Outside is nice on a summers day. Not bad range of cocktails, however the prices are high and the service slow. Food in the restaurant is OK, friend of mine choked on their popcorn, but other than that...

i think they they shud b slating me because i threw up in their toilets lol. so i had a good time

Does what you would expect from a chain bar next to an entertainment complex. Full of "young" drinkers, good 2-4-1 deals and mediocre food. Handy place to have a drink whilst waiting for your film at the Odean to start. Wouldn't go there for any other reason.
anonymous - 31 Mar 2005 17:02
Pricing is confusing and drinks generally very expensive.
pinga - 4 Jan 2005 13:54
This resturant has to be the best by far in guildford. Many a night is spent sipping cocktails on the veranda, which, during happy hour and on the Monday 241 deal, are not expensive at all. The staff are well trained and professional, the managemnt, polite and friendly, the food very good (i suggest the Fajita's)and the friday night live music is awesome!
kevin - 1 Sep 2004 10:27
Not a place to go for the beer, but you might want to go there after watching a film at the nearby Odeon, just to relax and people watch.
Will - 8 Aug 2004 22:32
I like it here. Many a girlie night out has started off with a few cocktails at Old Orleans. Staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. It's fun to sit outside on the pavement in summer and 'people watch'. The doormen are professional and polite - but firm. It's not usually over run with kids either. It had a bit of a dodgy patch for a while but there's new management now.
jackie_sunshine - 8 Mar 2004 19:22
It's not bad really for being such a small joint. Nice when it's warm enough to sit outside, and food is really nice, but maybe slightly over priced. Cocktail range is lacking a bit, and far too basic.., but the bar's only small, and at least some of the bar-tenders knowledge of other cocktails is enough to indulge in your own con-coctions. The cocktails are a fair price, and people that think they are too expensive are in fact major tight 'wods' that haven't the first clue about cocktail bars! this place gets 8/10
Barman DAN - [email protected] - 21 Feb 2004 02:21
Good for pre/post cinema as said. Bar ok but expensive and food extortionate for what you get!!
OpheliaImmortal - 23 Dec 2003 14:21
Good food, one of the gew places in guildford with cocktails. Attached to cinema so god for pre/post film drinking
anonymous - 26 Aug 2003 22:58
Cocktails overpriced.
