Not a great experience....beer is Greene King IPA or John Smiths, neither kept very well. Very overpriced in my opinion: little change from 10 for 1 pint of beer and 2 glasses of coke. I've never known such awful service - there seem to be lots of staff wandering about, looking after the restaurant or just in and out from the back, who will walk past you while you wait at the bar for the one person serving to decide they can't find anything else to do first.
Carvery also poor, food is luke warm and vegetables either mushy or hard,
The management here need training in customer service; their expertise at the moment seems to lie in ripping you off. I recommend you avoid it and try one of the pubs in town.

Sorry to say the service is still as bad as it was last time, also, would it really kill them to provide beer mats

Never seen a pub take so long to serve people - it would be a fine place to go if it wasn't for the awful service

Good ale, good food. If you drink malt whisky tell them if you want ice in it. If you don't, you'll get ice.

Very nicely done out pub since the recent refurb. Visited a couple of times in the last week - one great pint of Young's, one terrible, decent pint of Adnams Broadside. Very relaxed atmosphere away from the boy-racers in the town centre.

I try to pop in here on some fridays before meeting friends elsewhere. The beer range is quite good - usually 3 real ales on. Tried the food about 6 weeks ago. Mainly this is a carvery but it does have a limited bar menu which is not very adventurous. My wife found it difficult to find anything to her taste. I had the Jimmy's Farm sausages and mash (the waitress admitted they weren't from Jimmy's farm!) and my wife had the fish and chips. It was all very average and nothing to want us to eat there again. Carvery meals can be eaten in the bar but they're not a patch on the Toby offerings available elsewhere. Friendly efficient service but stick to the drinks.
