All closed cafe and all. How long before it`s pulled down.
Another `pub co.` cock up.

This is the worst pub I've ever visited. The beer is cloudy and the food is awful. I would never ever go back and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The staff are really odd too and incredibly rude. Don't bother - this is one to miss out!

After visiting this establishment for lunch today with my grandfather & reading some of the reviews on here i felt i had to share my views. The car park is huge but with only a few cars i guess the place did look a little empty. Upon entering we were greeted by friendly bar staff who made us feel instantly welcome, they had a roaring open fire which we headed straight for. We ordered our food & within ten mins our food arrived, we both had lamb roast & it was beautifuly cooked (compliments to the chef) they have a good selection of food & beverages, no sign of any dirty tables or glasses as previously stated. The couple running the place made themselves known & were keen to ensure we had all we needed. Overall i think if the level of eagerness to provide excellent service stays as it was today, it will only be a short time before the car park is crowded. See you there next sunday. They also run a cafe from the pub, if the food & the hospitality is as good as it was today i can see this being a regular. Oh & the prices are very reasonable, which in todays climate is a bonus.

This is another place living on borrowed time far to big for todays drinkers, never any good as a food pub,and the last 5/6 landlords have not made a go of it.
Was one of a chain, Wooden Bridge & Green Man Burpham being the other 2 that coach`s stopped off for refreshments on the way to the coast.
It had a link to The Queen mum hence the spelling of Lyon (dont know what the link was tho.).
I think the same architect did here and The Bridge.

The Thursday jam which used to be held every week at the White Lyon in Worplesdon has now moved to the Cricketers in Westfield in Woking.

Last Thursday, the White Lyon's management gave Pete Doyle just one week's notice that the jam would finish - after 5 years! They want to fill the space with pool tables and fruit machines - doh!

We think they are mad as the jam was their busiest night with players and audience filling the room. Other pubs know that well organised jam nights together with band nights can be very good for business.

It's a sad end to live music at the White Lyon - Tim the previous landlord had helped build up the jam with bands also playing on Fridays and Saturdays. That had gradually died away through lack of support (and payment) from the White Lyon.

Anyway looking forward, the Cricketers management are keen to develop live music in a pub that has a history of live music going back at least to the early days of Paul Weller's band The Jam. Come along to the Cricketers, Westfield on Thursday instead and join in - tell all your friends who might want to come along too.

The Cricketers, Westfield Road, Westfield, Woking, Surrey, GU22 9NQ - the jam will start at 8.45pm; slightly earlier than usual and so will finish slightly earlier too, every Thursday.

The White Lyon is a great pub for live music. The regular Wednesday night JAM session has just changed to Thursdays, and is one of the best in the area. Great House Band and a great atmosphere. Not to be missed!
