This was a terrible place with bad beer, worse wine and inedible food, but thankfully it has closed down.

If anyone knows what's planned for the place I'd be very interested to know.

I moved to Tooting a few months ago and this is the place me and my housemates go after work for a bottle of wine! They've changed the menu recently for the better, and it's a still lot cheaper than some Balham bars. Not as quirky as the Wheatsheaf up the road but the staff are friendlier and the food is really nice, even my parents liked the tapas when they visited and they're hard to please! There's not many events on which is a shame but it's busy on the weekends anyway and the music is usually good. Fun little bar, good place for a catch up.

Used to like this place, but the bar staff seem to have got really sniffy. I was told last night by one member that the head on my pint (about an inch and a half) was what the landlord had told them to do. This was without me saying a word! She then truly went off on one. Used to like this place, but they can shove it now, it's in the middle of nowhere anyway. If you're passing and dying of thirst, fine go in. But if you want to watch footy there are much better places in Tooting, Streatham and Balham. Nice house red wine, shame about the staff.

Think you probably hit the nail on the head by saying before hitting the tube to Clapham. It's not an area to stay on a Friday or Saturday night so you might have one or two here before moving on so it's never going to get busy.

I always thought the place was OK bit trying too hard for the area and the prices set on the high side to keep out the people who would rather try the Wheatsheaf.

Plus the rumour I heard basically said that the owner is a local landlord who is trying to push up the rent prices in the area by introducing higher end businesses to the area. i could well believe it from the place.

Been to this place 3 times now and everytime has been great! My mates first dragged me to a masquerade ball which was a great laugh, the following day we went back for breakfast (at about 1pm) and had a great fry up. Just done the Monday night poker and it was wicked. Seen a few different staff but they've all been super nice and the drinks have always been top notch. Been told it's quiet normally on a fri/sat night but I dunno why cos I'd deffo go to somewhere like this before hitting a tube for Clapham

Nice little bar. From the outside i thought, "uh-oh, pino grigio brigade"!!!
However, staff were friendly and efficient, food was good and the tv was on....
marvellous!

This is my local, and I think it has a really good atmosphere now. (It wasn't always this way, if i'm being fair.) Every Monday is poker night, and I thoroughly recommend it. The bar staff are really friendly and you can usually have a good chat to them before the place fills up with other card players. I'm beginning to see familiar faces returning every week, which is great, and means that coming again is a real pleasure. This is a Bar that has seriously changed in the last few months. There have been changes in approach, and the place has really benefited from these.

This place seams to have changed a fair bit over the last few months. The new manager is a nice guy and seams to have sorted out some of the bars weaknesses like the food menu. Had a nice meal on a Saturday lunchtime and stuck around all night. Definitely gonna go back even just on a Monday cos I don't know anywhere else local that does poker!

It's alright for a cheeky brew on the way home and the manger is a bit of a character. They don't really have any decent bar snacks. If your hungover on a sunday and want to watch the football at least you are going to get a seat in the bec bar but if you want atmosphere hop on a bus for the Balham Tup.

can't make my mind up about the place.. i think i like it but i can't work out why. Its absurdly average in every sense and offers nothing to attract me other than being on the way home from the station. Not sure what its lacking, maybe a strong cocktail list but everything here is o-k.

utter rubbish. this is the sort of place that is killing good bars and pubs. rediculously small and badly laid out standard alchol range at slightly inflated price tried the food once and it was poor and overpriced. it is doing well at the moment but one suspects this is due to the KH being closed for refurb. as i have said before about the smoke bar which is looking for similar clients if this is the sort of place you want to go to then go up the road to clapham where they do it so much better. its a shame as i live almost next door but i'd rather walk to Balham or down to the KH/Frog

I did hear a rumour that it was opened by a guy who owns a load of rental properties in the area and wanted to attract a more professional crowd to the area and so could charge more rent. I don't know if it's true but I think it's certainly a possibility. I've been in there a few times since moving to the area. Not much to say really the place is ok the drinks are ok not a great deal of choice if you don't like lager but ok. I did find the soft drinks horrendously overpriced though. I've never seen the Wii in use even when I went in for the Wii tennis competition they advertised. Also the price I saw was 5 for half an hour which seems like an almighty rip off considering how little they actually cost.
Overall though the decor is ok, the staff are very good, it's never been a problem to get a seat or get served so it's alright. The crowd are ok your never get any trouble out of them but I doubt you'll get much of a conversation from them either and the atmosphere is more subdued calm tham vibrancy. I'd say if your a local it's alright for a couple of drinks during the week when you don't want to go too far or to start the night of with and as a meeting point but I wouldn't plan a night around it or make a trek to get here but then i don't think they aimed for that when they opened it.

Been here a couple of times now and enjoyed it, refreshing to find somewhere nice in Bec. Definitely a young person's bar, but from what I've seen the clientele don't seem too poncy.

5 rents you a Nintendo Wii for an hour downstairs on Sundays and Mondays, haven't tried the offer but it sounds like it could be a good laugh.
