CLOSED - still a Prezzo

To confirm the previous reviews, this is no longer a pub, and is part pf the Prezzo Italian food/Pizza chain.
Seems a shame that a place once frequented by Charles 1st and 2nd should end up like this, but it seems, another historic pub has gone forever.

It is a shame that the George has closed, but I would rather it stayed empty because the last thing Stortford needs is a Wetherspoons selling cheap crap beer to pissed up chavs like they do in every other town in the country.

Got it wrong, according to the local paper it has been bought by an Italian restaurant chain. C'mon Wetherspoons we need one of your pubs in this overpriced town.

This pub is now closed and boarded up. The rumour is that Wetherspoons is intersted in buying it.

On my last visit "Inchie" actually smiled, has he gone soft since he is single again, or is he crying every Saturday after the forest result is announced.

Apparently the 3rd oldest inn in Hertfordshire and the toilets smell like it. Used to visit it occassionally as it was the only place in town selling draught Bass but alas no more. As others have said the place needs new management and a good clean.

Long (or wide) single bar. Heavy pub carpet. Mix of original and fake Olde Worlde wood. 2 pumps - Tetleys and guest. OK town centre pub. Nothing special, but nothing bad. Bang on average.

The Nottingham Forest mad Manager should be approached with caution. The drinks may be a tad expensive, however as a regular, I know the INSULTS are totally free of charge.

Being an ancient coaching inn it should be the best in town but it has all long since gone to seed: the surroundings, the management and the customers. A good shake up would restore its former glory, and provide excellent lodgings for Stansted.
