Now an Indian restaurant.

First visit since this pub has changed hands. Not much change on the surface but the interior is less dark. The food (Valentine's special) was excellent - the menu looked a bit odd but it was perfectly put together and execptionally tasty.

Beer range - London pride and Tribute is disappointing. The Tribute was OK, nothing more. For a pub that supports local producers for the food, it is extremely disappointing they can't support a local brewer, when there are so many now available.

Pretentious nonsense.

Still very good but now selling local beers: Ascot Ales. Excellent news!

It has much changed since it was a tiny smoky pub. The regulars (non-bikers) appear to be coming back, and the Monday evening opening without food seems to be gaining popularity. At least it has survived as a pub, and not been demolished like so many other 500 year old watering holes.
The St Edmunds IS real ale, and is brewed to be served cooler than normal. The Greene King IPA is OK, but I gather that it will be replaced by a Summer Ale soon.
They do up market Bar Snacks that compliment most drinks. These dont make the beer go flat like eating crisps does.
The Aspall cider makes a welcome change from fizzy Stongbow, as does the Peroni larger from the ubiquitous Wife Beater.

No longer a Pub but a Bar Restaurant it should be removed from BITE.

The keg St Edmunds is NOT real ale, but at least it is ice cold, unlike the warm coke from a bottle and the complete lack of ice. They don't sell crisps because "we are a restaurant, not a pub"

Much changed from previously. Pleasant bar selling two ales - Greedy King IPA and St Edmund - the latter was in very fine form on a recent visit.
The food is excellent - good quality ingredients well prepared, not cheap but food of this quality never is.
Highly recommended for that special meal or a treat. Good service, friendly young staff. Not really a traditional pub any more but very good at what it does.

Good Real Ale.
Free snacks to keep the beer and conversation going.
Good family pub.
Popular with bikers.

Local CAMRA reports this is under new management. I haven't been in since the change, but my previous comment about smoke would no longer apply. I hope the ale is as good (or better).

Small quiet pub, but much too smokey - roll on July! Good ales, inc Adnams & Fullers last time I was there. A bit cramped for more than a small group.
