An absolute gem of a building outside. This beautiful thatched pub will lead you to wondering what amazing old world charms are on offer inside. The answer to the latter is a great big disapointment. The inside looks like a Students' Union refrectory or one of those trendy cafes, the type that are not very trendy anymore, not since 2000 anyway. Totally ripped out and replaced with a charmless sterile interior. The lighting was awful, didn't stop for food but it would have to be good for you to want to sit more than five minutes in this place. Crimes like this should be a hanging offence.

Called in around noon on a Saturday.

Chalkboard boasted they had Everards Tiger, they didn't.

Menu offered a decent looking pie, waited ages for service and tried to order one. They didn't have any left!!

The Deuchars IPA was decent though the soulless pub wasn't to my liking

So I left after just one pint

The pub and area fantatsic being a newcomer to Stone but the staff not so great. I felt ignored and then treated very badly by a bar lady. I was spoken rudely too at the bar ordering and felt a pub of such great presence deserves better than staff like this to demote it. She was a mid thirties to forty year old lady who wore glasses. wont be re-visitng that pub with friends for a nice meal and drink in a hurry.

The female bar manager (emma i think) who works here really damages the pubs overrall rating and that is why i have rated it below par. This lady is downright rude to customers old and new and i know many locals who stay clear of this pub and eat and drink(spend there good money) elsewhere simply because she works there, including myself. She certanily abuses her role and the power she has and treats many locals bad, by simply talking down to them or keeping them out simply because she does not like them personally. And i am not just talking trouble makers here but also well liked, respectable and some self-employed people who have a good attitude, and its all down to personel attitude not ours. The books would vastly improve if she where to leave.

Titanic Anchor on hand pump.

Awfully knocked about traditional pub.

James Blunt piped music.

Trendy leather sofas.

We couldnt work out who owes this pub but they havent done it any favours.
