6 real ales, 2.10-2.65/pt. Won't win awards for it's beer or food, but it's OK. Big screen for sports, has Sky and ESPN.

Yes this is primarily a student pub, yes it is very busy during term time and is a target for people on the Otley run pub crawl. With this in mind this is a pub to visit if you want a bit of a lively atmosphere whithout heading into town. The beer isn't the best kept, but better than most on the Otley road and they do have real ales on, normally EPA, more often than not Leeds Pale and Timothy Taylors. If you take this pub for what it is, a very busy lively student pub then it deserves a better rating than it has been getting, always a better choice than the nearby Royal Park pub which at present gets a rating of more than 7 for some reason.

A grim student pub with not enough staff and no decent beer (draught Tetley's does not count - the brewery's in the same town so why not cask Tetley's?). Cheap prices are the only redeeming factor.

Hey come on, chaps!
Many are the times I've gone for a drink in the Hyde Park and it's a darn good pub, what!
I'm actually shocked :O
It does do draft Tetleys, I'll have you know, and "expensive" you say?! It's 1.50 for a pint of Carlsberg, Tetleys, or a J2O; 1.39 on mondays!! It what way is this expensive?!

Bloomin' heck is all I can say...

This was my local for one year, and I avoided it as much as possible. The selection of beers available is limited to the usual lacklustre mass-chain sort, the toilet facilities are ghastly and the pub is often heaving with the most vacuous and banal of Leeds's student population. There's no joie de vivre, merely a vague sense of menace, with the overcrowded seating areas a hotbed of petty crime. Drinks are expensive too. To put it simply, there are so many better places to go in the local vicinity.

Even being on an Otley run is no excuse for visiting this dive. Before it got done up it was average, and at least did draft tetleys. Afterwards it has turned into a nightmare concoction of strange decor and awful clientele. It may or may not still do draft tetleys, I wouldn't want to go and find out. Still has the world's worst outdoor seating area. Avoid.

Otley Runs Only. No other excuse really. Be careful if you are on the run and are feeling a bit worse for wear that you don't get confused and walk down Victoria Road instead.

I completely agree. Used to be ok for an afternoon game of pool before it got too busy in the evenings, but since the refit it's now one to avoid. Why is it bright orange on the inside now? Even worse, they took down the picture of Peter Andre that used to be over the top of the second bar.

another useless chain-type pub, this one is particularly uninspiring. poor beer, rubbish design inside (watch your head in the smallest gents known to man), and if you fancy the tables outside i hope you like the smell of fumes. also seems to get some well weird people in. and as a final point, every time i even walk past, never mind go in the cursed establishment, there's a myriad of arseholes dressed as something doing an otley run with no chance in the world of finishing it. go home.

On your way from Headingley to the City Centre, you'll pass the Hyde Park pub. That's probably a good way to keep it.

Half uninviting, half generic chain pub, it gets its money from the students and the nutters, whilst the bar groans with the weight of a thousand alco-pops. There used to be a hand pull, but it never had any beer in it, and it's probably long gone now.

Pretend you're on the Otley Run, and keep walking to the next pub.
