walked in here hoping to shoot my bolt...... could not believe my luck my four favourite golden boys were in here. they tried to make a run for it, but i cornered them and gave all of them a right good seeing to. 1 2 3 4 proctol holes in one night.

No draft beer but a great selection of wines, busy with a good vibe.
Like the place a lot but they could do with refurbishing the toilets, Mrs Mac was not impressed with them.

No beer, but a brilliant wine bar. Underground and doesn't get as busy as you'd imagine a wine bar would get in the heart of the City, but then it is tucked away from the main streets. A bolt hole indeed.

Ok ladies, now,..if you will insist on using the nauseating phrase "does what it says on the tin!",..at least make it relevant. Here, its relevant, this place is a "bolthole",..i.e. a safe haven in the middle of nowhere,..i.e. just off that nothingness that is Upper Thames St,.....it does what its says on the tin, in the same way that "Two fruities" does in Stepney,..or "Rank shitters" in Blackheath. This is a cellar wine bar off one of the main arteries through the city,..down a spiral staircase,..its dark and serves no draft beer. Ever read that book "Perfume" when the little Grenouille chap fcks off and lives in a cave in the middle of nowhere for a few years,.......You could probably get away with a couple similar weeks here,..if you had your credit cards on ya.

There is nothing like a good cellar to have a wine bar and this one certainly meets that particular requirement. Tucked away down the backstreets near Cannon Street station, one can easily lose oneself among alcoves beneath the dimly lit brick arches and it is all rather cosy, a bit like the downstairs of the Olde Cheshire Cheese. They take bookings for all or part of the premises and it is probably good for leaving dos and functions. They do sell bottled beers at a price (�3.50 for a bottle of Pride) and whilst I am not really a wine bar person, I could happily while away some time here if my pocket would allow it. Friendly bar staff but as we were the only customers at the time (it was pretty late and this was the only place still open) I can�t speak for the customer base or how busy it gets.
