Country pub in a nice location. It seems to have a focus on food, with a large dining area. But there was nobody eating. A handful of locals were watching the World Cup final. At the rear is a nice garden, overlooking a large field with horses. Ales are from Upham. Tipster & Punter are the regular ales. Fields Of Gold was the seasonal choice.

Dreadful. Went in at lunchtime, pub almost empty with loud pop music blaring. Food was very expensive and not good at all (e.g. ham not properly cooked). Avoid if you can.

Lunch here the other day, very quiet but the manager was friendly and the food was good (but fairly expensive). Guest ale was tasty.
BTW. Welcomes dogs, and my two hounds had a great time making annoyances of themselves.

Need to get their act together. Unhelpful, overpriced and slow.

Looks decent enough at first glance, so as my both wifes and my memory dims after 6 months or so we go back in. Always regret it for some reason or other.

I'm so pleased to say this place must have had a change in management.

The decor is beautiful, the staff are friendly and competent, the service is quick and it seems to be a professionally run establishment again.

Hats off to who ever turned this place around, it is a job well done and we will return.

Yes it is very expensive - 2.95 for a pint of bitter, but is really a restaurant with a bas attached. The landlord was friendly and took time to talk to us even though we had only popped in for a drink.

Unless you take your accessory children - Tarquin, Hanna, Jocasta, and Nutmeg - to school by a 4x4 the size of a bloody tank, avoid this pub. Beer lousey and at over 3.50 a pint the most expensive in Berkshire. The interesting thing is that the regulars are too stupid to know or care that they are being ripped off.
Food tremendously overpriced and pseud. When we visited the food was served late and cold. The landlord displayed al the signs of intoxication when we complained but the staff assured us that he had only been on the coke all night. Maybe he was having a mild stroke. We certainly did when the bill turned up.

Ridiculous pub, daft prices, clientel you wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with, and staff that just don't seem to bother.

A work colleague of mine (associated with the largest local employer) stayed there recently as they now do 'rooms'.. suffice to say he won't be going back. Which makes three of us.
