Popped in here recently one Friday afternoon and, although it was heading for closing time, the very cheerful landlord was happy to chat and fill me in on the recent history of the place. I ordered a pint of Bowland Gold and, as the barrel had only just been changed, he gave me a free third of a pint to try so as to ensure the condition was right before he pulled me a full one! The whole place has been very tastely decorated, light and airy, and the menu is all sourced from local produce. Four handpumps serving a mix of beers from Bowland, Lancaster, and Copper Dragon. Will defintely be back.

Very friendly landlord who prides himself on using local produce (for which it has won many accolades apparently) and serving local beers (Bowland Brewery). This rambling pub in beautiful Newton-in-Bowland is at first sight a bit run-down inside but we were told that it is due to be sympathetically modernised. The bar retains many of its (1930's?) wooden features which I hope are retained. It would be a shame though if they got rid of the period ceramic ware in the toilets.

has been taken over recently, had a good bar meal and a decent pint of Copper Dragon early sat evening, needs tidying inside and some festive decorations would have helped at this time of year though.

we've had a few nice meals and drinks here when we've done the trough of bowland trail time and time again. not been for over 10 years now due to living down south, due to visit home this year and will go back here to see how it's altered

Fantastic pub.

Large beer garden on the gentle slope of a hill offers fantastic views of the Ribble Valley and will provide the backdrop for a splendid summery Saturday afternoon.

In winter you're treated to a roaring open fire and cosy furnishings.

Real ale and good food available all year round. In many ways it's the perfect country ale house.
