please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This place now bills itself as a micropub and is called the Rusty Bucket. It seems to specialise in craft beers. But, there were 4 real ales fetched from a cool room just behind the bar. They were Kent KGB & Session Pale, Empire Moonraker & Kirkstall Out of Focus. Real ciders were from Dudda's Tun - Disco, Greenhorn & Blackcurrant Cider. Craft beers were from Moor, Tempest, BBNO, Beatnikz Republic, Villages, Anspach & Hobday, Verdant, Polly's Brew Co, Tiny Rebel, Omnipollo, Blackened Sun, Northern Monk, Boxcar, Mikkeller & Emperor's/Steel City. The latter was a Sour Cherry Red Wine Stout! There also appeared to be a good range of bottles and cans in the fridge. The pub was fairly busy and the young barman was struggling to cope. The craft beer taps seemed to have a mind of their own, the till had frozen and I was served out of order. But, apparently it was his first night. It was also quite crowded inside. Many of the tables are designed for larger groups. But, with single drinkers occupying many of these due to a lack of smaller tables, many were having to stand. Glasses remained uncollected. Music was playing fairly loudly. I don't mind this. But, it's not normally something you would associate with a micropub. The toilet had a faulty sink. Although, hand gel was provided. I've painted a fairly negative picture. But in all honesty, this was probably the best pub I visited in South East London yesterday. It certainly had a lively atmosphere and the drinks range was good. Probably now the best pub in Eltham.

Closed and boarded up a couple of years ago. Recently sold and site acquired by Altitude Assets.

I would be surprised if this is re-opened as a pub.

Should be called the community centre, its a regular pub and will never be the cafe/coffe bar green king want it to be!! BRING BACK THE POOL TABLE, JUKE BOX AND TOP OF THE LIST OUR FOOTBALL.

Now closed for revamping, but chalkboards outside suggest they're going for a 'gastro' type look, as advertising hoardings for croissants, coffee and panninis seen outside. Wonderful - upmarket drunks here we come! A lick of paint doesn't change and won't change the clientele.

The only thing missing from this place is the spit and sawdust of old.

Friday (26th Oct) My first visit to one of Elthams most notorious boozers, The Crown sine the change in management and in fact, probably my first in over a couple of years. Nothing has changed. No ales (its supposedly a Green King pub), flat Stella, oddballs, blokes with tattooed necks, drunkards dancing and shouting (well, its supposedly karaoke) to Del Shannon. The toilets were an unbelievable state. Why did I visit? I dont know really.

For those who are unaware, The Crown is reportedly under new ownership. I havent ventured here in an absolute age and cannot envisage myself doing so again anytime soon. Whether the changes will be positive I do not know. As the age old saying goes, you cannot polish a turd.

Used to be the old timers and postmens pub in Eltham back in the day. Never the most lively of places, but i'll always remember when the old dear from the sally army would come round trying to sell us copies of their newsletter.

Funny how some thing's stick in the memory!

Poor selection of beers, disinterested bar staff and shouting, swearing customers who seem to be waiting for trouble. Not for me thanks

Most of the time, I'd of thought this pub is all right for a visit. I used to go here on Sunday evenings occasionally and it was okay, but it certainly isn't on Friday and Saturday nights. At first it just seems like a bit of a party with the locals getting involved with Karaoke and having a little dance, but the longer you stay, the drunker everyone gets and ultimately nasty. Pop in, just not on the days Ive specified. They're for "locals" only

One of the blandest and most uninteresting pubs I have encountered. An England flag and a dartboard are the only features that grabbed my attention. The beer selection was equally uninspiring standard lager and keg bitters. Seemed friendly enough although it was virtually empty and I can imagine that Friday / Saturday nights it would attract some of Elthams biggest meatheads. A pub thats instantly forgettable from the moment you walk in.
