please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub has been taking over by some top class pub operators and is currently under refurbishment and is due to reopen on 09/10/2015 under the new name of SIR JOHN GIBSON.

rfom what i here and ive seen on local papers they have fully re decorated the pub inside and out wiith a newer more upper class look and feel,

I think stanwell and surrounding areas need a good fresh pub and this could be it!!

My advise to the owner would be keep it a clean house!

From briefly speaking to the new landlord (Tom) who was very welcoming and even gave me a sneak peek at the ongoing work, he told me he plans to completely turn around the pub with a fresher more modern / boutique look and bring in weekly karaoke and live music , etc etc, new beer garden and a the old front bar is been changed into the sports bar with the rear bar becoming the lounge / bar / restaurant, new fully serviced kitchen with a good food offer is in place which i think is a great idea!

He was also quite keen for me to know that there was going to be new strict rules
such as a dress code after 9pm and a very strong ZERO TOLERANCE against drugs he said everyone is welcome but if old users cant change to the new rules then they will have to go elsewhere,

I really think this is going too go good for you tom and i wish you all the best!
il see you on the 9th for the open night
and also to see ELVIS MEETS THE BEATLES LIVE ON STAGE!

jack!.

This pub did have a poor reputation, but the current landlords Lyn and Lee have turned it round. Give it a go

This is arguably the best pub in the South of England. I'm from up North and have always been made to feel welcome there. In fact I've met other peopls back home who too share my views. I suppose it's probably because it's just like a Norrthern pub. Long live the Happy!

Really not my kind of pub! The locals can be quite cliquey and it was not a great atmosphere. I would have to disagree about the karaoke too! I have been to better ones locally!

i like the pub but some of the people in it tend to be a little on the selfish side apart from that it does have good entertainment

Well, its not a Pub we would normally venture into if we are honest. But, we saw the band Twisted Pearl were playing there, it was in a local newspaper ad and went along. Again, its not the type of pub we normally go to, but we went there just to see the band - and had a great night. Pub itself, well, needs a re-vamp and re-think, but if they have bands as good as this one playing we will return again. We had reasonably fast service - and by the end of the evening the Pub was pretty crowded, although talking to some other people who were sitting next to us, they had seen an advertisement too for the band and had just come down as they were playing. Well done to the Pub for having live music - especially of this standard - amazing!

Two bar spacious local by the estate.

Desperately needs an overhaul as it's very tatty and smokey. Grumpy girl behind the bar in the green romper suit could smile a bit more.

One handpull (Courage Best) which was off yesterday forcing us to sample the bottled Light Ale.

Pretty poor really.

the karaoke is a Thursady night - and in all honesty there are some great singers in there !! same as anywhere though you will get the wannabees who are crap, but if you can sit through them you will here good singing eventually - allowing the kids on the karaoke is a bit annoying though
beer wise i,ve never had a bad one in there - after the problems with the previous landlord Ron and Karen should be supported as much as possible - nice pub - nice people - niec prices

Notice the pic of Concorde which has replaced the previous pub sign...
And at last, they've replaced the signage - I can remember it being called the "Happy ding" for years!
