Best bar in York, bar none, if you''ll pardon the pun. I''m from London (yes, I know) and I''ve been to the Habit four times in the last ten years or so. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere, loads of space. Great food, great beer, great people. Superb.

Doesn't have the most ambitous beer selection in York. However that doesn't matter cos it has some of the best vibes. Loved the fact that there was a ukulele group practising upstairs. Friendly bunch

This place is a hidden gem! I have been here during the day with a party of 4, 2 of which are wheel chair users... the manager, Simon is very accomdating to all and totally unfazed by anything! The staff are friendly and efficient. The buliding is rather quirky and unique. Good variety of food and drink. In the eve this place is rocking! Live music and good vibes, drinking till the wee hours. I'm thinking of hiring the upstairs for my 40th bash, i can't think of a better place to celebrate being young! I love "the Habit' and i love the manager. Can't recommend it enough!

Nice pub with character. Served John Smiths Smooth and Batemans. Worth a visit

They have also just had a mini-refurb. New food menu, was very nice. Try the mussels!!
Downstairs the bar has had a bit of a rearrange so there is more seating space, and a long bar to drink at comfortably.
Upstairs, they have created a tiny but incredibly beautiful terrace. You have to go up a couple of steps and then crawl through an old large sash window. Once ouside you realise its worth crawling on hands and knees for, nice seats and decking, absolute little sun trap, and superb view of the Minster, up-close.
The perfect place for a cool summer pint, or a jug of pimms between friends!!

A really nice, different little place. Great fo coffes or glass of wine during the day, or a beer or food with friends in the evening. How they manage it in such a small place, who knows?
