please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A friendly unpretentious place, largely patronised by pensioners , the
usual Sam Smiths offerings in good condition ,quite busy on market day .

Reality is an illusion created by a lack of alcohol.

Went in to day 13th Oct, again mainly older customers but it is Sam Smiths.Talking to customers who told me the relief managers had been offered the pub but along with all reliefs had been sacked.Have heard this before about sacking relief managers, don,t understand why,was told reliefs were on 21,000 approx some managers on less,so it could be to turn them into managers on less money, nothing surprises me any more with this lot.Any the lager was ok.

Called in last night after work for a few pots of Alpine lager. I noticed that beers are now "free flow" and taste better than they did before.

I can't believe that Colin and Monika are now managers of this pub, I remember seeing them in the Star Inn at Netherton a few months ago. I seem to be following them from pub to pub - not on purpose, I hasten to add.

If you need to micturate I would go somewhere else as the toilets are on the smelly side of sinking. This seems to be a typical complain in most of Samuel Smith's public houses. Maybe they should be called "Pubic Houses" instead!

Real ale slightly too cold, but you can't fault Sam Smiths prices!

Have read russelsprouts addition i c,ant believe Julian has been forced out he was a good guy.Talked to customers and staff and the area manager has forced him out along with his artistic son. The area manager is a little man no more than 5ft high[am being genorous]i once saw him in Marquis of Granby in knaresboro when he was slaggihg of the managers, its time he got his cumuppence and let managers get on with what is a difficult job.It appears he is cutting all costs to the knucle while not helping managers improve trade.GET RID OF THE DWARF

I have visited this pub a few times and I think that it is a great pity that the manager, Julian, has been forced out of this public house by the area manager. Does the stunted troll not realize why so many of his pub managers have left.

Watch out for the scary man with a beard that's over a foot and a half long. I'm not convinced that he's human or maybe he just wants to replace Dusty Hill in ZZ Top.

May I take this oppertunity to wish Julian and Sandra good luck in their future careers.

Been in this pub a few times manager Julian is very welcoming but full of the older end looking for a cheap pint.Again it falls well short of a decent pub only because it is the usual dull sam smiths, but worth a visit.

Oh dear but cheap beer. Don't go near if you value your lungs....
