A surviving non-gentrified York pub with friendly staff and locals
When the Swan has no seating left, any cider drinker could do worse than stroll along here. Handy for the City Walls walk.

Shame the last reviewer had a bad experience...new landlord trying hard against adversity of owner wanting to convert to flats and placed on a very annoying ring road. On the plus side they seem to be concentrating on O'Kells from the Isle of Man and the beer is very cheap...for York: only 10mins brisk walk from centre!

Terrible place had to wait for the barmaid to finish her mobile phone conversation before she bothered to serve me.When she got round to it the ale i wanted ran out and i settled on another it was rubbish i left it and got out of there,The blackboard out side promised much but failed to deliver.what a shame,

A fairly nice, local's pub, not in the sense that you are intimidated upon entering. Welcoming enough and serving good beers.
