please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Euston station pub above the concourse, that also serves food and coffee's etc catering for the train brigade as it should.

I have used this pub many times over the years but this is my first visit this year.

5 ales on draught all priced at £3.95 a pint. 3 choices from Greene King plus Tribute and Spitfire. I opted for the GK IPA Gold. Funny taste to the pint but I was only in for a quick beer so it was drinkable.

Fairly soulless place but livened up by friendly and attentive barmaids.

The Doric Arch is the best bet for a good beer when at Euston Station but when the Doric is closed this place does an adequate job.

Terrible place in nearly every respect, it gets enough customers beacuse of it's location but would not think many people go back a second time.

Bad beer, food and hot and cold drinks would only go in here again as a drink of last resort.

After many visits to this so called "pub" I feel it's time to vent my frustrations. The toilets are a notorious cruising area and the current management do little to help this with their flamboyant attitude. I have noticed as a regular morning customer that since the regular opening manager has left that the standards are probably the worst of any train station pub I've ever visited. Come o

the worst pub ever over priced rubbish by rude bar staff save your money and try some off the pubs outside

OMG Ican't believe how bad this pub sounds now. Used work there when it was Coopers and nothing would ever of been allowed to happen like I have been reading, as the standards were very very high, maybe old managemnet should be brought back!!!

My complaint to the owner of this pun:

I went to the Euston Britannia Bar last night (20/12/09) for a couple of drinks while waiting for a delayed train to arrive.

The bar looked nice enough but clearly the staff just wanted to get home as quickly as possible.

They called time at 10pm.

Because time was being called early I went to the bar to order a second pint leaving my coat on my chair, half a pint on my table and an open magazine also on the table. Before my pint was poured one of the staff working had 'cleared' my table of my drink and magazine.

When another customer complained about the early closing he was shouted at by the staff. When he shouted back an off duty member of staff assaulted him and other members of the seemed keen to participate. It was only the fact that the customer ran out of the bar that the situation did not escalate.

When I expressed my annoyance at their attitude I was told to 'f*ck off' and the member of staff who assaulted the other customer came over to me in a threatening manner. At this point I walked out of the bar.

This was quite simply the worst public house I have been to and the only reason I did not call the police to deal with the assault was that I was meeting a sick friend from a train and could not be delayed.

You claim to be 'Real Pubs on stations' but there was nothing 'real' about the service on this evening. In fact it was rude, violent and appalling.

I expect to hear from you regarding this matter.

I came to london on saturday and was starving. So i went in here for a breakfast what a mistake, the coffee when it came was cold, the breakfast was cold, i asked for some butter for my toast and the barman just looked at me and walked away. Never Again.

Expensive short measures served in plastic cups by disinterested students Never again.

I can't be too hard on any pub that sold a decent pint of Fuller's London Porter, so I'll just note that this is not the worst station pub in London...
rpadam - 15 Nov 2008 20:25
Very inferior pub which I made the mistake of going to because it was convenient for Euston Station. No half-decent drinks, no atmosphere. Never again. 2 points for the barmaid.

Me and my Mum (what a horrific way to start a review!) went to this pub last night, at around 7pm, after coming in from a Walthamstow flatviewing share and arriving at Euston, pondering whether to view something else or catch the train home. I felt bloody ill and wanted something proper like a pub lunch to eat, so my Mum suggested the Britannia, saying she'd been taken their by her sister once, and it was really nice. Hm. It was alright, I suppose. I had the three bean chilli, which is around 6 and is 'express', so it has to come within 15 minutes or else you get it free (so it's frozen, basically), and it was meekly warm, and quite watery (so it's frozen again, basically). It filled a hole, but I really dont understand why they dont heat the balti dishes for the chilli. Or the meal. My Mum had the Aberdeen Angus Megaburger with chips and salad, and she didnt touch most of it. The chips, she said, were beautiful, but the burger smelt of 'cow'. Those actually are her words. 'Cow'. However, the apple and blackberry crumble with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream, which came in a washing-up bowl sized dish, was quite divine, and hotter than the actual main meal.
It's quite small inside, and there's not many seats. The music's quite overly loud. Still, I liked the pudding, and the balcony's quite nice. The staff do happen to speak english, by the way.
Would I go again?
Puddings say yes.

With so many decent pubs within rushing distance of Euston station you wont find many serious drinkers in here. Its mainly families and student groups camping out over a coke or a coffee whilst waiting a couple of hours for their connecting train. Consequently it can resemble more of a waiting room or a left luggage centre than a pub. Doesnt have a great deal going for it unless you can get a seat on the balcony and want to do a bit of people watching.

Ok pub, often use it on my way home from London. A typical sation pub.
lesalanos - 28 Jan 2008 20:11
What a truly dire pub.

When I visited last night, there was no beer, no Guiness and the staff barely understood English.

For some reason, they also closed the balcony some time before the main pub.

Absolutely nothing to commend this establishment.

Never again.

Woeful. Doric Arch is 100metres away maximum, and has train departure boards in the pub, so there is no excuse for anyone to end up in this dump.
mps77 - 13 Aug 2007 13:25
At about 12-30 today the pub only had three beers on (none of them real ales), so, reluctantly, I had an orange juice. For lunch I had a salad, which was freshly made and quite tasty.
clissold345 - 9 Jul 2007 22:24
Very mixed crowd with some serious solo drinkers wobbling on their stools. Has friendly and efficient staff nowadays. Can get busy, but very likely to get talking to stangers as you share a table and watch the departure boards. TOP TIP: don't pay 20p to use the station toilets - they're free here!

What do you expect from a Station pub? Crowded, it is at peak times.
Sporadic service, yeah but taken with the first comment it is understandable.
Beer, OKish, nothing more than that to say really.
grayguy - 13 Dec 2006 09:48
Picture says it all, out of keeping in architecture from the rest of the station foyer cos they only have one style in the catalogue.
I wouldn't force it to close thought, as the aparachic punters would spill out to the Head of Steam and dilute the trainspotting goth club which rules that roost.
TipTopTommy - 23 Oct 2006 18:48
I've been here a few times when waiting for a train or someone at the station and I've got no complaints. As a train station pub it's never going to be anything to write home about or go out of your way for, but, unlike most pubs in stations I've been to, it's actually quite decent. It could be far worse (see Wetherspoon's in Victoria), so I'll give it 7/10.
C.B - 19 May 2006 12:37
Along with the Fuller's pub in Paddington this is the only half-decent station pub I've ever set foot in, so given the location it's not bad.
illhaveastella - 30 Jan 2006 23:19
yea not too bad - sit on the terrace and you've got a nice view of the departures board so, if you've stumped up for an open return, you can blow out train after train to manchester. they're on the half hour and virgin ensure it's pot luck as to when you arrive anyway so go on - have that 4th pint
shw500 - 16 Nov 2005 13:13
Opens at 9 serving breakfast. Found beers from Fuller's and Youngs sept. 05.
Finn - 21 Oct 2005 21:18
Not too bad for a station pub, I've definately seen worse.
Nige - 19 Dec 2004 10:40
Does this pub have a policy of serving only a limited number of drinks to one individual?
I was in there one evening about 6pm, and had three pints of lager.
But when I tried to ask for another, I got the brush-off from two staff members in succession.
I was not getting abusive or showing other obvious signs of drunkenness, so I am puzzled as to why they didn't want my money.

Paul Weller had a slash in the urinal next to me in this bar.The rest is a blur.
fred fencehead - 24 Jan 2004 00:06
was a sticky evening ... and the train was canceled... the staff were good... but the place was as its known for a bit short stop no atmostphere... clean pipes and the beer was good the hour i was in there .... not to go back if you have to but welcoming if you are hot and delayed :)

Strange ! im convinced my pint was in GLASS ! As i actually managed to smash a glass unfortunately !
This place is very very random ! Its a cosy place, and your guaranteed to meet some very unusual people here, e.g beggers, backpackers, fat americans, football simpletons etc. Its a noisy place, beer aint cheap either, but worth a visit if your in the station.. Wouldnt go in there alone though !

Great beer, met some nice, friendly people since it is in the rail station but the staff was not very friendly. pretty loud and boisterous, music sub-par.
John Holtz - 1 Jun 2003 03:12
It has real beer and nice staff, but it also has football yobs (a pile of whom were being loud and racist to bait the mainly-black barstaff and bouncers, who showed remarkable forbearance but did stop serving them) and Britney on the jukebox. And they won't serve anything in glass, in case of trouble. One little football skinhead tried to start a fight with me on the way out.

Is real ale in plastic pint glasses a victory for beer? A point to ponder.
