Pub is closed and may still become a supermarket. How do I change the information and keep it updated on the BITE site???

Is it now safe for straight punters to visit? Or is it still backs to the wall time?

Rumours are that The Granby will become a dedicated music venue while the gay community will move to another pub in the town centre (The Rising Sun?).

Under new management since May 2010.
Has been given a new, more modern look inside with cool artwork on the walls, leather seats, new lighting and improved sound system.
They're doing loads of exciting new nights at the moment like foam parties, neon nights, jelly wrestling, burlesque nights, pole dance lessons, live bands, karaoke nights, etc.
There's a vast array of spirits and other drinks to chose from, with lots of special offers each night.
They also have new dj's, so no more cheese all the time!
This isn't just your average gay bar anymore, they've changed it into an entertainments venue which everyone can enjoy.
Saturdays are still the main gay might, but it's becoming slightly more mixed now...
I'd highly recommend this place for an awesome chilled out night!

Shut. And with good reason. Goodnight fudgey type.

Really chronic place. Stay away. Drink prices also horrific. It is in one of Reading's dodgiest areas to make things worse.

I used to go to the Granby about 5 years ago and always enjoyed my visits, good atmosphere, good music and decent beer.

Have been back twice recently and thought I'd walked into an episode of the L Word - lots of younger folk, quite a bit of attitude and too much hair product! Has a slightly different vibe but still managed to have a decent night.

Before the refurb this pub was a bit unwelcoming. You'd get those "You're not local, you're not gay so I'm going to look at you meanly" looks. I always felt that I needed a T-shirt saying "I'm with my gay friend" but since the refurb it is a lot more friendly and attracts a wider array of people.

You'll deff have fun if you go here! A great night out fo' sho' :)

Used to be a great place, especially before the refurb. It had a great atmosphere for gay people of all ages. Now since they added all the usual marble chrome etc its more a place for young, catty, think they're the first gays ever, little teenage queens. Swanning about in tight t-shirts, hair gelled to within an inch of its life. Rather sickening to be honest, if anyone over the age of 30 goes there its only to pick up "chicken" ...the saddos.

I think this is a great pub/club. I am not gay and you dont have to be. Anyone will have a good time here!

Expensive and lots of attitude by the regulars.

Call me stupid, many do, but i didn't notice that this was a lesbian/gay pub until my third visit. No "sherlock holmes award for observation" there for me then. Not that it matters, during the day it's a quiet, well managed bar with decent beer. I can't comment for the evening seen as I suspect i'm not their core target auidience. Well worth a visit anyway, gay, straight or any other variation. Vive la difference.

The Granby was opened in 1997. It's the premier gay club in the Thames Valley. Every weekend lesbians and gay men from far afield flock to Reading for a great night out - why not come and join them.

Thursday - 8pm til 2am (chill out, pool table, free entry)
Friday - 8pm til 2am (RnB, urban & chart , free B4 9pm)
Saturday - 8pm til 2am (banging tunes, free B4 9pm)
Sunday - 8pm til 12.30am (Karaoke ) free entry.
