We have been eating here maybe once every couple of months for over a year. Last week there was only half dozen items available on the menu due to no delivery.
However, my biggest gripe is every single time we go, there are added items on our bill. I urge everyone to check their itemised bill as we normally find 2-3 drinks on there that we havnt had. Beware!!!

This used to be a Saturday regular for me and my mates but since the change in ownership it has really gone down hill.

The beer choice is poor, the food is rubbish and the staff!!!! They are so unwelcoming its hard to stay in the place.

I guess we will all have to wait for a change of ownership again...

We went there as a family twice at the end of last year. Both times the quality of the service was very poor. Food took ages to be served, drinks took ages to arrive. The food did not all come up at the same time to our table. Some of the meals were cold. We will not be going there again.

used to be a fave of ours, however, the change seems to have brought in bland ales and i can not comment about the food, the atmosphear has changed, shame as it was a really really nice country pub. lets hope the management read this and make it more of a real ale pub again eh? x

We have used this pub quite often over the past few years and would have to agree about the decline in the quality of the food served.
Whilst the location and general feel of the pub are good our last few visits have left us very unhappy.
The lunch we had recently was the worst we have had for quite some time. The food was cold and also quite burnt.
We didnt expect large portions as that practice of offering cheaper meals at lunchtime is common. However the quality of the meals was something we didnt expect to be so bad.
We really hope that the chain can get to grips with this pub as it has great potential to get back to where it used to be.
We will just have to see how it rates over the next few months before we venture back.

Used to have the feel of a country pub, with a great menu, quality food and great service. Seems to have been refurbished and lost all its atmosphere, now feels like just another chain pub with a cheap (quality not price) menu which is just not right for its great setting. We ordered a Sunday roast and pie from the rather sticky menu, after 50 minutes they arrived, the roast was cold and not edible (powder in the mash) and the pie meal, though piping hot, was missing its pastry as they had ran out of stock. Although it was really quiet (which spoke volumes as this place used to be bursting at the seams on a Sunday ), those that were there all seemed to be complaining, felt sorry for the waiting staff who were great but fighting a losing battle with what is clearly a badly managed pub/restaurant.

I have both ate and drank here for a number of years and think the staff are fantastic and the food and drink selection is fine, some people should realy commend when things are good rather than jump srait in when they go bad! If you have been going for years and have always had a good visit then i am sure you can allow for one slip up! After all they are all only human! Good work guys and see you soon.

We wouldn't know how bad or good the food is! I telephoned to book a table and spoke to a rude young man who made it clear he didn't want to have a conversation with me. I was told I couldn't book at 7pm - it was first come, first served at that time of night and when I asked what time I could make a booking from (by now he'd already tried to end the conversation) I was told they were quite busy all night. He didn't even ask how many the table would be for (3). We are now going elsewhere - thankfully the person who answered the phone of our now preferred restaurant was polite and helpful.

Used to do excellent food, gone downhill a little in recent years. Also noticed that the Enville wasnt on last time I went shame as its one my fave beers. Still a nice place to spend an afternoon though.

we have had many wonderful meals here on a regular basis,BUT last week we went and wanted 1 fish and chips and 1 sos and mash.
They had run out of mash !!!!!
So we both had fish and chips which usually are so very good and fresh with batter that melts on your tongue.
The fish when it came was the same as you get frozen in boxes of 6 from iceland it was dire and when i complained about it the manager said sorry it was what the group had sent him,no reduction in cost or a free drink etc.
I asked if this was cost cutting and they said it will be back to normal when the batch has gone.
We are eating elsewhere now for a few months then will try it again

I've used this pub for many years now, with a gap of around 15 years when i was elsewhere..Now using it again, the change for the better is startling the food is super the drink excellent and above all the service is excellent even at their busiest times. And it's always service with a smile.
So well done to all those who work at The Peacock Inn.
And thanks to everyone who make my evenings memorable.

A quintessentially English inn in a beautiful area of the countryside with low beamed ceilings and old wooden tables - aesthetically, it's a pleasure. Shame then, that the food lets it down so much - unimaginative, bland, overpriced and an overall huge disappointment. Poor selection of drinks too. It has great potential but they're nowhere near fulfilling it. The staff try their best, providing a friendly and decent service but the choices on offer for food and drink need a massive rethink.

I have been coming to this pub for over 30 years, but have to say that the refurb after the welsh gaffer left was very nicely done.
The food here used to be superb, if a little pricey, but I've since heard that it's really gone down the nick lately.
Serve some nice, well kept beer and it has a great atmosphere.

Two poor quality and expensive meals in the space of a year, a real let down since it was taken over.

When may family and friends went late on sunday for a snack and a drink the cook refused to serve us becaus not everyone would have a main course. The staff were sorry and the owners compeletely dismissive. Not a good experience and clearly a management that were not interested in creating and maintaining happy customers. I would not recommend it

I used to visit this pub frequently before it was revamped by a chain. There used to be an excellent choice of real ales but things changed when the selection went down to 4 and the prices went up. Went to see how things were qnd found it busy with diners but there are 2 bar areas, and the staff were all working in the restaurant bar leaving those waiting in the other bar feeling frustrated. No problem with the quality of the beer when received though.
