Came here on the Easter Saturday at about 9pm, very busy & thriving resturant 'pub' - I would never use this as a pub as it's a food emporium, plenty of quiet ones around like the Bull next door. 3 ales were on tap; Landlord, Purity UBU and a 'national'. The Purity was Ok as was the last time I was here, but the Purity at the Jimmy Figgs in Thame is always better. Had a good meal here with the Rustic bread/Balsamic vinegar starter & the Calves liver was good. Decent wine list. A nice place to go but it's a resturant really.

Popped in yesterday lunchtime...Purity Ale's 'Ubu', Timmy Taylors Landlord, plus room for 1 other (not on). Seemed very popular with Nurses/Medical Students/Social Workers...can only assume this is due to the nearby Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Not a bad spot...will call in again next time I am passing.

A really nice place. Not expensive at all, especially when gastro places like this tend to notch the beer prices up as a matter of course. Always seems to be popular so you know the quality is consistently high. Will visit again when next in the area.

Quite simply THE best pub around for miles.
Extensive menu, good food, fine wines, good choice of beers, friendly staff, great ambience, the car park is permanently full, says it all really.
Puts Red Lion Wendover in the bottom league.

Back in business after a stunningly quick rebuild with three real ales including one from a micro -- Purity's UBU -- perhaps a further sign that drinkers as well as diners will be well catered for?

It's open again. Popped in for lunch yesterday for one of their preview days. The food was great and the new colour scheme is much warmer than previously. One good thing is that the pub area has been extended behind the fireplace when you enter, so more room for drinkers. Good pint of Landlord was enjoyed.

Great news! The phoenix is rising and hopes to be back in business sometime during November 2009 according to a construction worker I engaged in conversation on site.

Disaster!..............This pub has been almost completely destroyed by fire this morning 26 April 2009. This is a terrible loss to the local community.

Very busy pub now that the "Festive Season" is upon us with groups/parties having their Christmas bash. The menu is fairly extensive and will cater for most tastes, and changes every few months. Well served drinks. There's always plenty of atmosphere in this pub, can't explain why but its there. Now that winter is upon us there is also a welcoming fire.If like my husband your are over 6' tall you will have to duck in the bar/fire area. All the staff are helpful and friendly except one guy who always comes over as a bit surly but he doesn't detract from the ambience of the place.
Good food/drinks from this highly recommended pub. It is one of a chain but that for once isn't a problem, it shares the same group as the Ferry Inn Cookham and another pub in Wargrave who's name escapes me

Sadly Leffe draught has been removed for a lesser English Fizz (Beer). Still available in bottles though. Why do they do this? grrrrrr!

Without a doubt THE best pub around Stoke Mandeville, Wendover,Western Turville area. Why? Great selection of very well kept beers including Draught Leffe (Belgian) and some English Traditional Real Ales all sensibly priced, extensive wine list.Large selection of Malt Whisky and some rare international spirits.Really first class food with an extensive menu, comfortable leather sofa's and seats, pleasant decor, friendly helpful staff, outside seating (with patio heaters)if required. Spotless toilets, ample parking.I must also mention that my companion fancied a coffee at 1055pm, it was absolutely no problem at all ordering it, fresh good quality coffee served with a smile!

This is now a NON-SMOKING Pub and BRILLIANT! Food outstanding, beautiful interior/exterior. Nice, friendly staff. I posted a review in November 2005 and the only thing wrong was the smokey atmosphere. NOT NOW though! Also have a lovely new patio area. Thoroughly recommended.

Great food, great pub, BUT very, very smokey. They could do with installing decent air-conditioning or BANNING the smokers completely. Spoiled an otherwise great evening.
