A proper real ale pub with it's own micro brewery "Son of Sid". Visited during a recent beer festivals. We tried 5 different ales and found them all to be superb. It feels as if you have walked into someones house when you enter the pub, but we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. I look forward to my next visit.

A great example of a rural pub and the best of 10 pubs we visited in Cambridgeshire last bank holiday Monday. The interior is fairly plain, without all the embellishments that come with more modern pubs. Entering the pub is like stepping back in time. I doubt the interior has changed very much for over a century, and I imagine the locals are very similar. The reception was friendly and we were soon engaged in conversation. The landlord brews the Son of Sid beers. Son of Cirrus was the current ale available, alongside Woodfordes Wherry and Darkstar American Pale Ale. The Ouse Valley cider was an unexpected bonus for me. The toilets did smell a little. But long may pubs like this continue to survive and prosper.

An Interesting pub to visit.
The domestic door leading from the car park would lead you to believe that you were entering a house.
Once inside you get an impression of an old style railway waiting room, rather stark. However, the welcome form the landlady/son is clear and an array of beer brewed on the premises can be enjoyed, the Light is recommended, drinking is not disappointing.
As strangers we were made to feel at home by friendly and interesting banter with those who have the fortune to have this pub as their local.
There are some interesting bottles of beer on display behind the bar some of which i have not dseen for years.
A pub I have revisited regularily since discovering it some weeks ago.

This is a REAL pub where even a stranger is likely to fall into easy conversation with the locals or the owners (Bob and Wendy). The beer in irreproachable and the "Son of Sid" house brewery continues to experiment with new and interesting brews - the Muckcart Mild is a personal favourite amongst Bob's impressive array. Although food is very limited (mainly Friday night), this is of very high quality and it is worth ringing ahead to see whether they have enough fresh fish available for one of the best fish and chips in inland Britain. This pub is the heart of Little Gransden and in robust health!

A real 'local' where visitors are made to feel welcome by the regulars and the proprietors alike. Excellent ales brewed on the premises in the 'Son of Sid' brewery plus a guest beer usually on tap. On chilly days a blazing log fire is kept well stoked.

The emphasis is on good ale and good company. Food is available on Friday evenings to order in advance. Sadly not local enough for me to have tried this yet. Other times it's crisps, nuts etc or of course liquid sustenance! It's a pity simple snacks, e.g. sandwiches, aren't available but then maybe the fire wouldn't get stoked or something else would suffer!

If you haven't visited this pub then do yourself a favour and experience it for yourself - make sure you don't have to drive otherwise you'll miss out on sampling the beer! :- )

A gem - but doesn't open until 7pm in the evenings.

This is a classic village community pub - a true free house - run by the same family for over 50 years - Bob the current landlord is passionate about real ale - local CAMRA pub of the year 3 years running 2005-2007.
