Went back today..Grand national was on. Lots of happy people..Lots winners. And new friendly faces. Every one there very chatty and again a great pint. Met the landlady today and what a lovely lady. landlord still making laugh. again i think this pub has had a knocking over the years, but what do you expect from a run down town with no jobs or prospects. This a little place where people can let ther hair down and forget about the hard times.

Popped into this pub this week. And found it a very nice place. And very busy.(Market day) bar man was very cheeky and polite with it. Bought a guiness and the best one I have had in months. Recommended. This is a old town..with old people but they sure look after there customers. Was chatting to one old fella there and he said that the landlord and land lady would help anyone with a drop of a hat. He said that the landlady worked for the ambulance service and worked really hard. Where does she find the time. Must say it's kept clean and tidy. Ok the furniture a little old. But hay ho at least it's still open. Over all a nice place to drink and warm and welcoming. Will call in again.

Quite probably the worse pub in Kent - mainly old blokes either trying to talk or watch the (muted) football on the telly but blaring music just annoying. A shit hole of the first order - if you are waiting on a train buy a can from the off licence and drink it on the platform FAR better than this hole.

This is great high street pub. Will make this my local from now on. Snaz and Eve are a lovely couple, and make you feel very welcome. Karaoke nights are wicked. And the local maidstone band.who play there are fantastic. A must see. The regulars are real nice. A family feeling. The old reputation has cert gone. Thumbs up, keep up the good work. OH AND NOT TO FORGET GREAT BEER.

Went to this little pub on my way home..Great ales..good beer..clean and tidy..
In fact for the area lovely pub. The landlord is funny made me laugh to the point i was crying. Warm and welcoming. Locals may look rough and ready but they make you feel welcome, all very chatty. Over all a great daytime drinking place. Will defantly call back again, just to be made to laugh..

Still 20mins before our train went so went in here.
No real ale but two handpump, so we decided to have a small lager.

The music was very loud and this was around 5PM. The other people in the pub looked like they were models from a tatoo shop. Tatoos everywhere even in their neck and face.
Some dodgy dealings in a corner with a Chinese looking bloke.

It was reasonable in the afternoon but wouldn't go there in the after dark..

Changed a bit from my last visit...looks like a school dinner hall a bit with its strange furniture...Lots of parents feeding their kids Mcdonalds happy meals too from next door.
Beer was nice though and service was pleasant and welcoming

A real rough place. Entertainment regularly heckled.

Seems to be an Oirish element to it that I quite like. Friendly, and you get the feeling that THERE WILL BE NO HASSLE FROM DRUNKEN PUNTERS! If Gillingham FC are at home, then probably avoid until after the kick off. Beer not bad at all, and I certainly didn't feel unwelcome unlike some of the other pubs in the area.

A friendly pub it is not really. A few of the old men are ok, but the younger chav element are rather annoying and can be intimidating at times! Not a bad pint but the clientele leaves alot to be desired, but that is not the fault of the pub its the area in general I suppose!

I drank here and I didn't like the place. My comments have been deleted twice. I would like to give a fair and truthful account to give potential visitors some idea of what to expect, but that appears to be tricky. I paid a visit during the period mentioned by tomnlucy1, and my experience didn't match theirs.

My previous review for this pub was taken off, presumably at the request by someone who works there or is perhaps a regular. The truth is, Ive paid a visit here and simply didnt like it. The atmosphere and general feeling I had when in there genuinely did match what I had previously read on this page (reviews like mine, now deleted) and from what people have told me in person. I really do not feel that I offended anyone as such in my previous review and I most certainly didnt attack anyone personally. I posted what I thought was an honest account of my time in there. However, if this pub really has changed for the better, then good luck to it.
