Popped in for a swifty last week (I chose here because I could be bothered to cross the road to the White Lion) and it was average, just like the laast time I popped in about 2 years ago. Beer (Doombar) average, but £3.80! Music way too loud for 3-4pm. Nothing really wrong, but nothing to excite.

I ma considering taking the pub on and investing quite a lot of money as I am not from the area, can anyone help me as to what type of pub it has been previously and what is Thornbury lacking within the existing pubs. I am looking to offer something different which everyone is looking for.

Unusually for you Mr Arbiter, your last post is somewhat vague.
Was the Karaoke to be held at 3:30 in the afternoon with curtains closed? or did you see the notice at that time, when the curtains happened to be drawn?
Dr_Pangloss - 10 Mar 2011 00:09
I noticed a sign in the window today, which advertised Karaoke for 5th March, but at 1530, with curtains drawn, I assumed that a) the place was now defunct/closed; Or b) Everybody inside was still in bed.
Later, at about 1605, I noticed the door had been opened, lights were on, and there appeared to be some sluggish movement within.
Not my idea of a high street pub.

Have not been in for years, but I noticed it's up for sale/rent.

ummmmm The Swan was never as bad as it is now, fair enough when Matty had it, it became a problem pub but then when steve went in there and cleaned it up it became a lovely and livly pub and I dont think any one can fault that shame we moved to the Barrel and changed that around. things never stay the same. Im sure that who ever has got the Swan will realise this and change it for the best. if not it will only close for like the 5 time and someone new might go in there.
We rocked in that pub it was a chanellge but became very succesfull.
