Honestly I can't believe some people, I visited this Pub many times as a London most recently on the Sat17/05/14 the staff were very nice and quick at serving you the music (8 piece Band) was out of this world and all was in a nice clean big venue even if you wanted to have a nice dinner with no Music you can go downstaires to the dinner room. What more can you ask for from a PUB. I recommand it to anyone.

Another city centre dump. Went here saturday night & i was relatively quiet. However service was pants & the "clubby" dance music was deafening.
How Greene King can put its namew to this place i dont know.
Wrong on all levels

We had an excellent meal at this pub on Saturday 4 February. Well presented and perfectly cooked! The staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and a Warm welcome on a very cold day. Definitely recommend this pub and one to visit again when next in London.

This huge place always seems empty and it's a bit of a mystery how it stays in business. Although it's a Greene King pub, their own real ales are very poor and expensive compared with the same beers elsewhere (The Abbot ale in Wetherspoons pubs is normally better and a lot cheaper). Somehow this place always makes me want to leave as quickly as possible. Not a bad location though, and certainly potential for a successful pub/bar here I think if anyone wants to give it a go.

Went in to get something to eat but the general stickyness and the state of the glasses (after already having to get a clean one) put us off. Plenty of better options around there

Horrible! Just had an, Open sandwich which consisted of one slice of bread with tinned tuna on top (tiny amount) Tiny amount of salad next to it (one minature tomato) this feats cost 4.95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went in there this week for a bit of lunch to find bog standard Fosters eurofizz at 3.35 a pint. What a rip-off! Yes it is Central London I know, but that is a pint too far when there a number of others very close by that you can 4 pints in for a tenner, not three. Bad move by the brewery, if it was a decent pint of Youngs or Fullers I may agree with the price but not for Fosters.
No wonder it was almost empty at 1.30pm and you have lost my custom and that of me mates.

Horrible place. Feels dirty and old. Really dingey. Fine, it's near Oxford Circus, but that's the only thing going for it. There's something about it that just feels horrible. Chavvy and nasty. Service isn't great and the food's minging.

This is a really avarage bar but the food is pretty terrible. I have given it a try about 3 times and the service has been slow, wrong and the quality of the food pretty poor.

They even got a jacket potato wrong which is surely the easiest thing in the world to get right.

jesper, get a life, this pub is one of if not the best pubs in the area it is certainly the busiest.
The manager is always around if there are any problems and the staff are efficient. I drink in this pub every week and have never had an issue with it yes it is pricey but i think you may have forgotten where it is (OXFORD CIRCUS)you expect to pay more in that area.
Next time you want to moan about a perfectly good pub pop into the toilet and have a look at yourself first then think about it!

I think its an awful pub.

On my last visit 3 of the staff stood away from the bar talking, whilst one poor girl did her best to cope on her own. The bar was sticky and dirty, there was no atmosphere.

A drunk at the bar cast aspersions on my sexuality because I, sin of sins carried a bag. It was like some form of 1970's homophobic time warp.

In that part of town there are nicer, cheaper, friendlier and generally better pubs to choose from. Visit one of them instead, any one of them!

However if you do find your self in there make sure you dont carry a bag and make sure you assert very loudly that you prefer kissing girls to kissing boys.

i have visited this pub on a few occasions and have always found it to be clean, pleasant and friendly. the staff are efficient and the manager is always helpful. pop in and try the steak its lovely and they have a pretty good dj on at weekends.
the previous comment about the pheonix round the corner is rubbish that place has no personality at all.
kbeech - 22 Apr 2006 14:48
Been drinking in this pub at lunchtimes and evenings for the past 6.5 years, it has gone through a few regimes/changes in that time. I think its perfectly fine, ok could be cheaper but it is the west end.

Just a big pub slap bang in the centre of shopperville. No real character but nothing especially offensive about the place that I've found. Go here if you just can't be bothered hunting out a good pub.
casemore - 19 Dec 2005 16:53
Bland. Comments about personality free management are well founded.

If it wasn't for the location this place would close down in minutes. Go to Pheonix around the corner.
lancalot - 11 Jul 2005 16:48
I don't mind this pub - it's fine for a few drinks after work. The drinks are overpriced though, even for Oxford Circus, and the house wine is like vinegar.
It's in a great location though, and has plenty of seating upstairs and down.
Staff are friendly enough and I've not (touch wood) had, or heard of, anyone having anything stolen, and we go there quite often.
sla - 12 Apr 2004 19:09
disturbingly high theft rate. after my bag was stolen from underneath my seat, the guy at the next table said he had had his laptop stolen there a year ago. one of the people working there said their average was 4-5 phones and 2 handbags a week.

THE WHOLE PLACE SUCKS.

Greene King bite the Llamas bottom. Its another boring boozer, with personality free managment.

Start running pubs and stop going to your stupid area meetings.
Mr T - 9 Feb 2004 12:49
please note this pub does not show any Sky sports as they cant put a dish up.
