Constantly changing hands, went it to check if anything had changed for the better. I do not know because the music was so loud I could not think.

ps It's me again.

I would like to add that we did NOT have a beer WITH our breakfast (!) - although my post does sort of read as though we did ;-)

I stayed at the Schooner with my other half over the bank holiday at the beginning of this month. We weren't expecting it to be up to much, tbh - but it was absolutely fine.

There is new management (in there since, I think, October 2009) and a good job is being done. The young lady running it is lovely.

Our room was clean and kitted out with new furniture; the breakfast was a generous portion - cooked very nicely too; and the beer was cold and clean tasting. We were made to feel welcome, as well - which is possibly THE most important thing.

Nothing wrong there atall these days - so give the place a chance!!

lovely pub. nice staff, nice ppl, full of friendly locals.
it did have a reputaion in the past, but in 2006 changed owners and had a total refurb.
it has the best pub grub, and a lively evening atmospher.
would truly recomend it. xx

The only good thing about this pub is the food BUT with the chef leaving soon who knows what it will have going for it???

PEACEHAVEN there is no harbour or "haven" there, and it certainly isn't peaceful.

This place isn't far from the edge of a very high cliff.
In years to come it will probably fall into the sea.
Not a moment too soon.

1) Yes, it was once known as the Retreat, and before that, the Castle, until the battlements fell off.

2) Yes, it was a shit hole back then. The managers lived in a caravan in the car prk, as I remember.

3) Yes, it is still a shithole now, although the managers have moved on.

I used to know this pub years ago when it was called the Retreat. It was a shithole then and I suspect it still is. It looked like it from the outside so I didn,t go in
