Same price here £4.10 for Sheer Drop as in the Barley Mow.

A party of us had lunch here, about a month ago. It is a pleasant rural pub which concentrates on the food. I found the food well cooked, with generous portions. Some of the menu choices were, however, not available. Service was efficient and friendly.

What a superb pub!We had our annual A.J.S Bike Club dinner there last Saturday evening. What can I say,the tables were laid out for 20 people all with flowers and individual menus, looked great.Even better to come! The food was absolutely delicious, the service extreemly efficient and friendly. The cost very good indeed! You couldn't wish for a nicer venue or a better couple than Mark and Kate.

Myself and my wife visited this pub on Saturday 14th January 2012 and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The atmosphere was great, the staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. I had the best burger I have ever had (and I have had a lot!) with Cheese, Bacon, Gherkins, Fried Onions and Sundried Tomatoes on top and was thoroughly impressed with the value too. I only wish we lived in the local area so we could eat there more often!

Tried the Shere Drop (Surrey Hills Brewery) which was a very good pint. The 'Bar Snacks' menu didn't have anything much in the way of cooked food, so headed round to the dining area. The pub itself was quite busy but the dining room was empty although it did fill up later. I had pork & herb sausages with Colcannon mash. Food freshly cooked and the meat sourced from the local butcher. The William IV is a fairly large pub with the space broken up into different sized seating areas to go with the vagaries of a very old timbered building. The whole pub though, has a nice friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The friendliest, nicest pub in surrey... The owners , mark an kate make you feel like part of one big happy family, great service and lovely , well cooked traditional food and if there is something they can do for you they will. Bar staff are second to none , to me one of the nicest things is staff who smile and are there when you need them , no waiting in a for a drink or food to be served .
i highly recommend this pub.. both for drink and food and best of all for service with a smile

Went here with friends for first time and found it to be a very welcoming venue, beer was in excellent condition, Shere Drop and Courage Best was sampled. Food was also very good quality with decent portions. Will be back here soon. One of few pubs that has a Dart board, and best of all, very motorcycle friendly.

visited again and enjoyed another great evening. had a saxophonist playing in the corner of the bar making a lovely atmoshpere, supplemented by the live log fire. food very good again, tried the local rump steak this time, with peppercorn sauce - fantastic well worth another visit soon

Went in for Sunday lunch after a long absence and was really pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious (must have a new chef), well presented, piping hot and a generous portion of vegetables cooked to perfection.
The very good and pleasant waitress made this is very enjoyable experience and one that I hope to repeat soon.

A nice pint from a local brewery and an interesting interior, but not especially welcoming.

listening to radio five live last week we heard the owner chatting about the new no smoking law and decided to revisit again ! and even better than before - money has been well spent on the new garden decking and a much improved menu ( fajitas, goats cheese salad, share plates etc ). staff just as pleasant. had another great day there

Went here because I was tired of the idiosyncracies of the Barley Mow (which has white tablecloths, folded serviettes, cutlery and glasses lined up for a 3-course meal, cut flowers, waiter in a black waistcoat and bow tie, etc.; in other words is made to look like the Savoy when at the end of the day it's only the non-smoking area of a pub). I was immediately struck by the William's smart car park, nice traditional ambience, Shere Drop on tap, varied menu, and one gorgeous waitress. Slightly let down by the food: liver was a bit chewy and, although expensive (over a tenner) didn't include veg (which costs extra!). But good enough to give it another go one day.

The food is very good and the barmaides are very good to look at. Petty the locals have pointy heads though.

we visited this pub on a recommendation from a friend and indeed it was well worth it. we were taken to our seats in the restaurant and given a fabulous meal within our budget, staff were friendly and they had a pretty good wine selection. the log fire was lit and they were getting ready for xmas - think we will go back soon !

Well the food is very good. Think I've worked my way through the menu now. Nothing I wouldn't have again. Belly pork being top favourite and I would really recommend. Doing food all week now and also started doing pub quiz every other Sunday I believe.

went here after a bad pint at the barley mow. much better, locals pub with decent beer and best of all, didn't have a car pack full of noisy cars like the barley mow had. will go back again.

Pool table now gone as the pub has changed hands recently. They are putting dining tables around to cater more for the food side. Still a great pub and they say the food is going to be even better. Have eaten in their twice since and the portions have gone down (not a bad thing as there was alway far too much) and they've added some posh new meals. I shall continue to work my way through the menu purely for research purposes.

Nice country pub with real fire and good food. They don't do food on Mondays though. There are two pubs in West Horsley this one and the Barley Mow (not listed on this site yet) which are within staggering distance of each other. This pub is more of a locals/workers watering hole and has a great friendly atmosphere. The area around is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has lots of country walks and National Trust sites near by.

Not bad at all, basic but functional beer garden, and not a bad pint of Stella.

Nice cosy pub for the winter with a pool table and decent beer. Also has a decent beer garden for the summer months. Sometimes does BBQs.
