Out and about for the FA again, passed here at the end of last season but didn''t have time to stop. Slightly better planning this time. Had a good pint of Otter Best, others on were from Sharps, Plain Ales and Bath.
Only downside was the inevitable ''Are you eating today?''.

Had an excellent meal last week, really good quality and value and great friendly service as well, nice to see a pub really busy, beers were good as well, will stop next time we are in the area

Had a pint of 'Sharpes Own', absolutely spot on. Best pint of sharpes I have tasted in ages. Smallish pub, they've changed to location of the bar since my last visit, but that was 1984!!! Good whisky collection as well. Recommended.

Popped in for a quick one the other night and enjoyed a pint of Sharp's 'Own'.
Beer seemed well kept and was served with a smile by a friendly barmaid.
Surroundings and decor pleasant and food menu looked nice although I didn't eat. (My only reservation was that they didn't serve pork scratchings!)
Small car park directly opposite which I can imagine filling up very quickly at busy times.

We were shopping in Wincanton today so popped in for our first visit. Good choice of beers, including many continental, excellent food and friendly helpful staff. Being a Saturday it was pretty full. Mostly local people of all ages. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Called in last night. Presentation evening for the CAMRA Wessex Region Pub of the Year. 4 real ales on tap, I had an excellent pint of Small Paul's "Gillingham Pale".
Excellent pub

The Nog has just been awarded CAMRA Wessex Region Pub of the YEAR, after becoming local branch (Heart of Wessex) Pub of the Year a few months ago. A pub like pubs should be!!

A great pub - Real ales that are well kept, food first class and excellent value (we had the Carvery on Sunday with excellent local meats), 2 roaring log fires including a beautiful inglenook fireplace and excellent service. The pub has clearly now had a tasteful refurbishment (since 2009 comments) and I would absolutely recommend it to any weary traveller down the A303 - it's just a few minutes off the carriageway. The car park is a little small (get there early or phone ahead!) BUT there are 2 others within less than a minute's walk from the pub.
Absolutely first class.

We dropped in whilst negotiating the A303, having looked the pub up on BITE and were not disappointed. In a world of shocking 2for1 food mediocrity and corporate facelessness it is all the more refreshing to walk into and enjoy somewhere like The Nog Inn.

The welcome we received was friendly and personal, the service was excellent, the drinks super (including a great pint of Cheddar Potholer) and the sunday carvery just the slap-up we had hoped for.

Whilst the decor is a little run down, this only adds to the charm. What a cracking place. We'll be back.

Lovely pub, completely agree with the comment about the 'home from home' feel. Great service which is not something you see everywhere these days. And excellent food too - tasty and good portions.

Lovely pub. Much better than OK food.. Their Sunday roasts are wonderful and Hog Roast put on for special events is spectacular.

They always have good guest beers on here. The excellent Doom Bar and Otter available at the moment.

One little niggle.. Find room for another ladies loo!

Good little town centre pub - cosy and welcoming with lots of little nooks and crannies. Friendly staff and well kept ales (Sharp's Doom Bar, Exmoor Ale and Dawlish Ale were on today). Didn't eat but menu is a good range of normal pub grub at reasonable prices.

An outstanding pub, everyone is made to feel very welcome and the whole pub has a very "home from home" feel to it no matter who you are or where you come from. And the beer is damned good too!
