Had an interesting 'coupla' pints in this place on a Saturday night. There were no ales available and they are STILL serving 1664 in Stella glasses! The cost of a pint was pricey but when my partner ordered spirits, I certainly had no money left over for the woman who barged into the place selling clothes!

The locals make this pub what it is. There were some real characters in there and the woman behind the bar had personality too.

I will definitely return if I'm in the area

No proper ale, 3-40 for a pint of 1664 served in a Stella glass (when they don't sell Stella), old fogies boring you with tales of their Benidorm timeshare and the odd local 'mong' around to pester newcomers..... yet I liked this place because in a sea of foreign bars and restaurants and an attempt to eliminate everything 'English' this is still an old fashioned 'How's yer Father' local English pub... almost extinct in London. You may not appreciate the local 'bigoted' views... but strange that if those 'local' bigoted views were espoused by people you encountered on holiday somewhere they would be 'understandale'. A locals pub for locals... too small to be anything else - nothing wrong with that.

As others have said, entering this pub is a bit like being in someones front room. Unlike a nice front room, I didnt find the front bar to be very comfortable no normal seating; only high stools and high tables. I didnt bother with the back room. The only real ale on was Adnams Bitter, which was not particularly good. I dont think Ill be returning.

This is very much a locals pub and I felt a little unwelcome so ended up sitting in the back room drinking my pint of Adnams, if I remember correctly. This room had a plasma screen and numerous rugby shirts up on the walls, but none of them seemed to be English tut tut.

There is a small alcove with some sofas in it towards the back of the pub and there is also another plasma screen in the small main bar where the locals were all hanging out.

The barmaid was very friendly, but I dont think that Ill be returning in a hurry.

Most of the people who drink in this place are 1 stop from East Ham i.e. Barking.

Cute place, shows the rugby, usually has an ale on tap in my experience, tiny front room that is rammed when sport is on. My main complaint is that one of the times I visited the loos were pretty filthy. Otherwise it would be a contender for my favourite pub in the area. If it's too busy you've got the Robert Browning about 10 metres away!

Small pub just round the corner from the Robert Browning. Even disregarding the absence of any real ale on my Saturday visit, the pub felt rather sterile and uninspiring and I won't be returning in a hurry

It had been a while since Id last been in the Windsor Castle when I visited earlier this year but its still a bit like walking into someones living room. Bit of a strange set up with three small rooms. The front room holds the bar and has two sofas and a few bar stools, a couple more sofas sit in the back room. Then theres an interesting almost hidden snug with a chaise longe that conjures up all sort of decadent thoughts. Looked like they were extending into yet another room as there was a new and rather sterile looking drinking den at the back which was in contrast to the rest of the pub. There are two hand pumps but only one was in use serving Courage Best. Bitburger on draught as well as Steinlager which reminded me of my previous visit. It used to be a Kiwi pub and I recall a map of New Zealand on the wall alongside the words, and actions, of the Maori Haka. Theyve now gone and have been replaced with ornate mirrors and some quasi erotic prints. An interesting pub.

Not been in this pub since we moved from London to Cheshire.
Richard used to be the landlord and he was a bit of a piss head, but what the hell. Great little boozer.

This is one of the best pubs in West London!
The drinks are cheap, the staff are friendly and it has karaoke on a Friday and a Saturday night.

I would like to say that this pub is now under new ownership so please disregard the comments made and quite rightly so by kathy last may. I think you will find this lovely little place a lot more welcoming now

Nice little 'un, possibly a bit too 'local' but good for a quiet drink

great little pub the Landlord does take some getting use to but he is harmless. You will find some very famous patrons in this pub from time to time

I visited this pub with a group of 6 friends as part of a Bank Holiday stroll around the lovely Maida Vale area, and on first impressions we liked it very much the bar staff were friendly, the interior charming and quaint. Sadly this impression was ruined as quickly as it was created: as we settled with our drinks, one friend who had a camera took a couple of photos of the group. At this stage, the landlord, who appeared to be very drunk, staggered into the bar area and informed us in an aggressive manner this is a heterosexual New Zealand pub, and stared at us menacingly before returning to the back of the pub. I really don't know what prompted this - among my friends there were two gay men, however it appeared more as if the landlord for some reason took an instant dislike to all of us. Anyway, once we realised he wasnt joking, we decided to take our drinks outside, recover from the shock and move on to another pub. However Im sure most would agree that such abusive and offensive behaviour is not something that should ever be tolerated, and hence its not a case of if you dont like it, leave. To add insult to injury, one of our group went back in to ask the landlord what we did to provoke such a comment, and for his trouble he was called an Australian c**t and told to f**k off. So there you have it folks unless you enjoy homophobia and racism, Id strongly advise you to avoid this place!

I stumbled upon this pub purely by accident just round the corner from the Robert Browning. It's a fine little traditional pub, well worth visiting. Well kept beer and a warm welcome. Please bear in mind that this is a small pub and do not offend the friendly locals by visiting en masse.
Note the interesting artwork on the walls
