please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Old fashioned and pleasingly so although the garden, in keeping with the village as a whole, doesn’t have much sun. We didn’t drink alcohol but a cod and chips was decent enough while the lashings of garlic bread accompanying a veggie lasagne would have taken several days to consume had my partner not admitted defeat.

Decided that this would be our post walk watering hole - having walking 5 miles up to Watersmeet and back through the moors.

Nice enough pub - think there were two real ales on - a decent Sharps Atlantic chosen in preference to a Speckled Hen.

Branoc and Dymsey on this lunchtime. Tried the later and enjoyed it Huge portions of food reasonably priced and welcoming chatty Landlord(?). Very doggie friendly. Would visit again.

Thought about popping in this afternoon but it was closed, seemingly for a private party. Espied Butcombe Bitter as the solitary handpull with another clip turned around when passing by yesterday so perhaps I didn't miss out on too much.

Welcoming. No real cider. Nice doggies.

A great find on a Friday evening in Lynmouth. The Rising Sun looked uncomfortably full so I settled on this place.
A few locals enjoying a bit of friendly banter in the smallish front bar. I sat down at a table with a pint and several minutes later noticed a sleeping dog under the table! So letting sleeping dogs lie I tried to sit as quietly as possible.
The dogs appear to have a certain amount of fame here.
The side and back of the pub are laid on with tables for food. I had already eaten but the smell of someone's fish dish was very appetising.
Had a decent pint of Ansome. The landlord made a point of conversing.
Lynmouth is in a spectacular setting by the sea surrounded by steep wooded hills. Well worth a visit

A poor place really.
A lack of atmoshere, rubbish beer garden and flat pint of beer!

3/10

Suffering from what appears to have been a budget 1980s makeover in the late Bass Charrington style (although no idea who actually did own it back then). There was at least one local beer but menu looked pretty standard seaside fare, and all in all, nothing to write home about.

Stayed here on Mon 9th May. A funny place to be sure. Not unfriendly or anything bad, just... odd! Room was really nice and comfy. Food, beer and service where all good.

I'd agree with 18 Sept and 26 Apr 2006. Strange pub with very little atmosphere although beer ok. Dull lighting, cold atmosphere, wasted partitioned area behind bar draped in fishnets, perhaps intended for those visiting for weekend assignations. Didnt eat here so cant vouch for the food.

Popped into here for a pint after a pleasant walk down from watersmeet. Staff friendly, their dog especially so!!! Real fire, good ale, good cider too. Not many people in, but then it was a saturday afternoon outside the tourist season, which is the area's main source of revenue outside of fishing.

Nautical theme throughout the pub...

Didn't eat there so I can't comment on that.

Late comment from September. Enjoyed a Clearwater beer here. Rather quiet.

This is an OK pub with reasonable beer and good food, but perhaps not the friendliest pub in the village. I think that it is just about to change hands at the time of writing and so that may change.

This pub has a prime position in the main street and looks inviting from outside. Inside however there is one section down the side of the bar that looks reserved for food while the main sector is draped under a fishing net and looks rather tired. Ales were from Torrington and St Austell were passable but the atmosphere dead (ok it was fairly early evening on our way back from Watersmeet) and the barman was not particuarly welcoming.

Fantastic little seaside pub. Attractive from the outside and cosy on inside, the pub allows dogs, has a good menu with several vegetarian options, the proprietors and staff were really friendly and the beer was good. Also has a beer garden (which the weather didn't allow us to sample) or a log fire if it's cold.
