Had been warned off this pub. But thought I'd give it a try, whilst undergoing a mini crawl of Staines. The sign of handpulls looked promising. But no real ales were available. The keg range was Fosters, Guinness, Kronenbourg, Strongbow, John Smiths Extra Cold, Stella & Wadworth Bitter. The interior was nicer than I expected. Clientele was a mix of local blue and white collar workers. Better than I expected.

The Three Tuns are now serving food, which is really good homemade fair. Excellent value for money and I recommend to all.

The Three Tunns is under new ownership and has been renovated to a high standard inside and out. The beer is refreshing, serving real ales and the usual favorites. The atmosphere is splendiferous around the bar area.

I believe they will be serving food soon and opening up a snooker room upstairs. All in all a satisfying experience and I would recommend to all.

went in to the north star sunday, beer ok but expensive,, the pub was full of x garibaldi regulars,, 2 of the staff there even useto work behind the gari bar, Hmmmmm,,, talk about robbing your neighbours,!!!!!!

Pikey pub. If you wondered where the scummy garibaldi lot had gone wonder no more. The tuns is a pit and a shadow of its former self.

I like the Three Tins or should say used to like the ThreeTuns. It was a great place to have a beer but the last couple of years it has gone down hill. Someone recently told me it is closing down as the brewers have gone bust or something which is a shame but to be honest I think it was always going that way anyway. I will never fogrt the days of Cliff and his many, ahem, barmaids... that he had there. Always a bit of scandal and always a bit of fun but those days are well and truly gone. Not too many pubs left in Staines these days that have a locals feel as they are all starting to become plastic pubs but what can you do. The search for a new local is on for me.

No not for me. the lady in charge is really unpleasent and its like everything stopswhen you go in there. Used to be a really good pub but not anymore in my eyes anyway.

Totally agree with nightman, the landlady is rude and ignores you when you want a drink. Foul language is prominent. I don't imagine this pub being open that much longer..... shame as the building has a quirky traditional charm.

Boring pub. We left the North Star and started drinking here because the star was rubbish but to be honest this place is not much better these days. Now the North Star is under new ownership we have started going back there. Shame really as when we first came here it was alright but the beer is naff and the bar staff are dull.

I have to agree that the Three tuns is a shadow of its former self. The latest in a long line of short term landlords is really not suited to dealing with people in any way. The place looks like a last drink at the death row bar when you walk in as there are people just sitting at the bar not moving and just gazing into their beer probably hoping for a bubble or some taste. Their beer is terrible and there is a God awful smell in the public bar. Sorry but this used to be a great pub around 15 years ago but its not anymore.
Graham_Kronebourg - 13 Oct 2009 15:09
worst landlady ever, not suited to dealing with customers, beer crap too, other than that its a nice looking tradional pub

Not quite as bad IMO as some of the comments here make out. Visited a couple of times and there is alot of effing and blinding coming from one corner (the pool table side) although it seemed good humoured enough. The atmosphere is old school boozer but never threatening. And it does a nice pint of Bombardier.

I have just moved to Staines and Three Tuns is the cloese pub to me shame, i must agree with cjallen about the foul language from customers and staff a like, see much has not changed in the last 6mts, i saw no signs of the broad/bar games said my Quinno, apart from pool and a old dart broad. I see the old ladys at still sitting at the bar to.

Back in Staines after 4-1/2 years I find that things are improved where the beer is concerned; the Guinness and the John Smith's are very good, and full pints are served.
On the down side it's not a pub where you'd take your mother or your daughter for a drink because the language heard in there from both men and women, staff and customers, is frankly appalling. I've been a soldier, a policeman, a seaman, an airman and a tax inspector in my time, so I've heard a lot of foul language; but there's no need for it in the pub. Anyone would think it was owned by the BBC!

Long line of weary faces sat along the length of the bar, reminded me of those little old ladies who spend all day at the one-armed bandits in Las Vegas.

One ale (the ubiquitous Courage Best) which was, well, Courage-like really.

Same chain (Jack Beards) that own The Cock in Staines, and to be honest you'd struggle to tell them apart - both kitted out in all-over burgundy decor, like the blood river from The Shining has just passed through.

Big plus point was that it was offering a selection of bar/board games which is a rarity these days, so there is a good reason to pop in. To be honest, it would be utterly forgettable otherwise.

Is it still open? It's very quiet in there.

I enjoyed my previous visit but made a big mistake returning. I was happily watching the cricket when the TV was just turned off and the juke box turned up to a stupid level. It wouldn't hurt to ask or at least say sorry. I won't bother again.

Good service, nice pint of Guiness, friendly staff and punters. Well done

Pub is quite good but head barmaid probably in the wrong job.

Pleased to hear about the change of landlady and the sale of full pints! However, as now in Queensland will be unable to come in to drink her health.

This is a pub worth avoiding: the landlady serves short measures even after having been spoken to about it!
