We tried this pub as a change from the Park View.
It looks very swish after its refit. Staff were super friendly, with even a bloke in an apron walking around giving table service.
We were there on a Saturday night and, much to our surprise, it turned into a bit of a riotous occasion, with a (good) singer, a large group of mature gay people (supporters of the singer), an equally large group of young straight people who entered into the spirit of the thing and a mix of other locals letting their hair down.
6 real ales on (inc 4 from Long Man microbrewery) which were well kept and a good price.
This is good competition to the Park View and other local hostelries.
They even kept my glasses case that I left there by mistake.
Didn't try the food.
I'll be back.

Pub has had a facelift - looks good on the outside but sadly lacking inside. Although nice wallpaper etc the finishing has left it lacking atmosphere and cosiness. There is a lovely fireplace boarded up and a couple of sofas that look like they have just been left in the middle of a big space.
Shame as it could be good - also put off by a large rowdy crowd that gave the place a bit of an unpleasant atmosphere as if it was going to kick off at any moment, especially when one lagered up nob from aforementioned group came bumbling out of the toilet and nearly upended over the sofa that we were sitting on.
Can't say that I'll be in a hurry to return.

Its nice. Nice beer and food, but one man behind the bar is disgustingly rude! Occasional shouting and cursing, and only really pays attention to the female customers. A bit sexist i would say.... and i didn't like the way he spoke to me when he was serving me. I would go there again, but not when he's working!

Not too shabby. People are pleasent, beer well kept, fun on match days

Came here by mistake, as we had been aiming for the Preston Park Tavern.... Still, we didn't pay too high a price as this was a friendly and pleasant enough diversion, if entirely unexceptional. On one hand I really could've been in any pub in any back street, but the service was swift and the ale - Harvey's Best - was on unexpectedly good form. There were few people in being mid-afternoon on a Thursday, but I would suspect a down-to-earth (rather than down-at-heel) working class bunch probably pitch up on louder and livelier nights. The increasingly dominant Big Screen was looming over us, but I daresay it keeps the sports fans coming back and business is business in a somewhere-yet-nowhere location such as this.

Completely average, but none the worse for that.

Nice pub. Nothing out of the ordinary in the decor department, but beer is good. Good watering hole for pre match drinks.
Great to see people playing board games and having a quiet pint. Pool table, food and tolerant of kids and dogs.
Good for a traditional pint if you are near Preston Park.

stopped for a quick one after a rainy first half watching the seagulls. They have Guess Who the board game...awesome just for that! Nice pub, heard good things

Three real ales were available at the time of my recent visit. The Harvey's was very good. Fairly busy but the no smoking bar at the rear was completely empty! Nice atmosphere.

On the A23 out of town near preston Park. Harveys is well-kept, usually at least one other ale. Food is good but rather over-priced. Accommodation available. Pool table. Rather bizarely sells porn in the gents!
