Now called the East Street Tap and (desperately) trying to be like a NYC bar - according to their own website. Having spent a whole lot of time in NY over the years, I can only say it fails big time. The cask selection was very poorly looked after, as they concentrate on the kegged stuff more. Having said that, the keg stuff was a bit iffy too, with the tapped Anchor Steam Porter from SF being a tad ropey and odd-tasting.

Deserted Sunday lunchtime, although food is available.

Little atmosphere - with better pubs/food outlets nearby.

Certainly - 'could try harder'.

Re-branded as the East Street Tap has a couple cask ales, usually Brighton Bier and a selection of craft beers. They have gone for the industrial look ala Brewdog but nothing wrong with that. Good place to go in the afternoon when it is not too crowded

Spoilt by arrogant and violent idiots. Shame, because I've loved this pub for many years.

Went in here for a quick couple on a trip down to Brighton. Was all very good with service with a smile and good beer. Didn't have the fodo but it looked good and I'd certainly be tempted.

Expensive for what you get and staff with attitude.

Used to be a great place to go on the weekends but now it has a odd crowd and smells.

Not a great pub, but it has good fish.

Superb visit to this boozer last Saturday; friendly service, great choice of beer & cider and the food was delicious with a capital "D". Oh, yes, not often i say this about a Brighton pub, but "Top Marks"!! Will return next week to try the Thai Red Curry.

Strange place, very student orientated but friendly yet I didn't like it and have no intention of returning but I couldn't tell you why.

Perculiarly buzzy and groovy and atmospheric for a middle of town place. Tiny to tell the truth, and no chance of geting a seat on a Friday or Saturday, but possibly one of the better places within a hundred yards.
