Hi, I was live in assistant manager about 13 yrs ago for about 6 months, whilst working there i became really good friends with Noah Harmon (NOZ) Unfortunately i lost contact with him shortly after i moved back to Essex and have been trying to get back in touch with him for some years now! It was arround the time that Waxe Dolphin were playing gigs in there. If anyone can help me get in touch with him I would be so gratefull!!! Thanks x

The dear ol' Royal Hart is closed down, and boarded up, again!!

Just how difficult is it to get a decent landlord ?

Throw out the under 16's and the smack heads and job done !
Bluenosemally - 7 Jun 2010 21:53
Give the new girl managing this apology of a pub a chance - she is clearing out the ASBOs, single Mums with pushchairs and the coke heads.

Punch haven't put anything like enough money into this property to make it attractive (the WCs stink, the lighting is awful and the bollard needs fixing) and are in the habit of blaming anyone but themselves for its problems.

The female so called manager and her brother who opened the place in August 2009 have gone now.

Pubspymaster - 23 Mar 2010 19:05
Nasty pub, coke heads & asbo's come to mind.
Trigger123 - 20 Mar 2010 16:40
In my opinion this pub should of stayed closed, its smashed window and broken bollard ouside in the first couple of weeks said it all about this pub. Its's the same horrible pub as it was before it closed with drug dealing openly going on in the carpark at night. The crap management team has now reverted back to charging its customers and local people 2 for the pleasure of parking in their crappy carpark, in times of ression its not the way to go about winning customers.
babyblue - 22 Oct 2009 15:48
lots of work going on at this pub looks like it may be reopening watch this space
risingsun110 - 16 Aug 2009 22:38
Closed as the operating company has gone bust.
robhealy - 24 Dec 2008 09:52
Haha, had to join to make a comment. The crazy gran must be the chef down the Hart. Sorry if its genuine. Great pub, not a food pub, hence why crazy chef is trying to promote it. Maybe if she didn't get changed in the kitchen she might attract more orders!!

No, but the food is ok. Beer's expensive (Stella 3.10 Carlsberg 2.75).

Changed alot over the years and the current land lord and land lady are the best for a long time!!
strawberry26 - 9 Oct 2008 17:13
Now they got a new manager things have improved and with their new chef the food is brilliant, cheep well cooked and presented.

Well worth a visit now
1crazygran2b - 31 Jul 2008 23:19
Its a shame really, it has all the makings of a good pub, but the clientele ruin the place. Pool tables are sadly a magnet for trouble as drunken wannabes try to start fights.

The pub either needs to go uber expensive and overpriced to distract people away or go super cheap and at least you'd know what to expect and it would be a bit lively.

LondonBoy29 - 21 May 2008 13:53
Oh dear...!! Judging by these reviews its back to the Kings Fairway then..!! (Maybe i should move to Guildford, there's some nice pubs down that way..) !! 3/10
TeeJay - 17 Oct 2007 02:02
We found this pub a load of rubbish a graet place to go if you are a lesbian the manager obviously is as she was happy to boast about her exploits the decor is nice though we wont be back shame because it has the makings of a great place to start the evening may be thind will change we will keep an eye on the website sorry to have to be negative about this place but we were disapointed
zoozoo - 29 Jul 2007 13:23
What a shame! This pub has gone WAAAAY down in my estimation!! I mean come on... Strippers??? Are they really THAT desperate!!! Thumbs down I have to say!
vanilla.skies - 11 Jul 2007 14:13
Love this pub! They've done it all up and the pub's got a completely different feel to it now. Loving the Thursday nights in there. I love karaoke and it makes a nice change on a Thurday night! There are a few karaokes in the area on a Thurs but this one is by far the best! Great pub!! (Also think they have wireless internet too - great idea!!) Going again tonight... la la la la la la la!!!
vanilla.skies - 14 Jun 2007 18:15
Fantastic pub! Great atmosphere. Particularly enjoy the smoke-free side! The change in management has made a real difference too. Great entertainment most nights. Will definately visit again
anonymous - 13 Jun 2007 19:55
BETTER NOW THE INBRED THAT IS TYLER HAS GOT THE SACK
Sharon_Boodhoo - 5 Jun 2007 18:05
Out of the pub's i've been to this pub is by far the best one. The people, community and bar staff are very friendly and make you feel comftable. The best night is Thursday night when the karaoke is on, music sounds great in there and you know how to have a good time. This pub is also very clean and non smoking which is very good.
sarahlou123 - 1 Jun 2007 11:45
Been going to this pub for 3 months now as I was told the karaoke is back.....Wow is it back with a vengeance, if ur able to make it on a thursday night it is absolutely awesome, the karaoke is now linked to about 10 screens and 20 speakers (i kid u not) and after the bad attention it received from the actions of the last manager the brewery have removed him and replaced by someone with more experience, the food is very nice, fairley priced and clean, loads of money has been spent on this pub and is definately worth a visit over & over again
rickeee - 31 May 2007 12:58
The only joke about the clamping is the imbreed ignorant people in ashford that think they are able to park in the pubs car park with out using the pub. Just goes to show the intelligence of people round here. There was plenty of warning, plenty of signs but then maybe assuming people in Ashford can read was a bit above the mark.

funnily enough none of the pubs customers had a proble with it just the people taking advantage.
anonymous - 22 May 2007 19:53
pubs name is rock bottom at the moment. rent a mob 300 clamping scam. roll on the bulldozers
pallet48 - 11 May 2007 06:51
the clamping thing is a joke. Shows you the kind of people who run this pub - avoid!
anonymous - 8 May 2007 22:41
Currently dragging people through the mire with a clamping policy that is completely arbitrary if you did not know what was going on - progressive manager!! possibility of a 300 pint - and not a very good one at that.
liamlittle - 26 Apr 2007 18:33
Parking behind this pub is currently being enforced by a clamping firm who will charge you 300 to free your car. I understand that you have to get a token from the pub to stay clamp free.
anonymous - 22 Apr 2007 13:19
An old Victorian building that has been recently been refitted (at considerable expense I'd guess) and looks fairly good for it.

There is outside seating, and 3 pool tables. Basically this is a kids bar, although there is an explicit no Chav-wear policy on Fridays and Saturdays

Nothing for me, the token beer (Hobgoblin) was only fit to pour over fish and chips and the telly and music were both turned up against each other.

Not really worth the effort unless you're 19 or a bit Chavvy (on a weekday of course).

Quinno - 19 Apr 2007 23:42
I like the comfy red leather lounge chairs, with built-in drink 'station' on each arm! Brilliant! You can have 2 drinks on the go at once! They've kept the dark wood panelling at the back, but the seating area on the RHS is relaxed and smoke-free (I noticed staff upholding the smoking restriction too).
Nice re-fit, I was pleasantly surprised. I have upped my rating to 6/10. (At last the 'Kings Fairway' has viable opposition). Tonight it was fairly quiet, no problem finding a seat for the footy on the large screens. I didn't get beer spilled on my new shirt this time either, thats a plus..! I will re-visit. TJ
TeeJay - 19 Dec 2006 00:25
I paid my first visit to the ole Royal Hart for 5 months last Saturday, and yes they've had a tidy-up! It looked neat & tidy, and there's now a 'smoke-free' zone on the right hand side (with a couple of screens, so you can still see the game)! There's progress for you. The 'RH' is arriving in the 21st century (unlike a lot of pubs where they're dragging their heels on the smoking issue). Well done staff, good re-fit, good service, comfy new seats, and Mrs TJ didn't notice I'd been in (whilst shopping) for a crafty pint! A round of applause for the RH..!! TJ
TeeJay - 11 Dec 2006 22:59
Went in here today because my fella wanted to see what it was like now. I wasn't going to have a drink but when I saw they do muffins I decided to stay for a muffin and a cup of tea. The muffin was delicious, heated up and only 50p. The staff were excellent, bringing our drinks over to the table and taking our payment from the table. We're intending to go back tomorrow for lunch because the new menu looked good too.
sarah101 - 4 Dec 2006 23:17
Must say i am very impressed with the "New" hart. In there last night it it looks fab!!! how nice to now have a decent place in ashford to go for a drink and a dance on a fri night.

I think Jason and Tyler have really pulled the standards up too. im sure they will be able to keep up the good work.
cat72 - 24 Nov 2006 13:02
They are giving the place another re-furb i believe, its about time again really!
El_Capitain - 31 Oct 2006 17:11
I noticed the fencing around the place yesterday. Pity, not a bad place considering... all that money spent doing it up (albeit a few years ago) - now where do u go for a pint when you've missed the bus?!
Heard a rumour that the whole bit of land including the old dairy & somerfield / pub / old fire station has been sold for more houses...
Let's see.. more houses = more people... what do they do? - shut the pub!
robhealy - 24 Oct 2006 14:58
Anyone know anything about the recent boarding thats gone up around the pub? Have they finally decided they are going to knock it down?
Suggs - 23 Oct 2006 20:40
Ah, the good ol' Royal Hart! Popped in to the bar at 11.20pm for a quick refreshment... but could i get a beer then... No!! Bloody UK licensing laws..! When are they going 2 wake up, and come into Europe..!?
You can get a beer in Vancouver at 1.00am..! perhaps i'll move there... best city in the world!!
TeeJay - 1 Aug 2006 00:50
"Calm down, calm down..!" Maybe 'Anon' is right..! Maybe there are better pubs in Ashford. But lets not forget the service the 'Royal Hart' has done for the younger drinkers in the area! Where else can teens go, if they're not mobile..?
I have had a pint or two in this pub over the years, sometimes to watch live football, or rugby, and sometimes just to wash the taste of a bad day at work away!! You may get an inch of froth on top of your pint, and when pointed out, you maybe ridiculed by a bar girl half your age...but thats the 'Hart'..!! you'll never change that. Unless they knock it down (which they threatened to do this summer..!) it will always be there, and the 'Hart' may well be serving YOUR kids when they're in their teens...! Now there's a thought..!! If you're over 30yrs, do not enter, unless collecting your drunken teenager, who's had one alco-pop too many!! We luv the Royal Hart really!! (but Shepherds Market in Mayfair is a lot nicer..lets be honest!!) TJ
TeeJay - 25 Jul 2006 03:18
So your basically calling me a overweight low life idiot then? Have we met before anon?

When was the last time you were in there?
Suggs - 14 May 2006 18:07
you're right, it's not great - it's terrible. Unless your an over-weight beer drinking idiot then you have no need to enter through the door. It's places like this that really show how low human form can become.
anonymous - 13 May 2006 13:11
The place isn't that bad, it used to be alot better.

The last 3 or so managers havn't helped matters with the type of people they allowed to come into the pub.

The last great manager that did anything for the place was Big Phil just before the refit, but sadly once they put all the bright furniture, lights etc in the place its like attracting flies to the smelly stuff.

Great place to watch the upcoming World Cup though, really good atmosphere with the football and no trouble there recently.
Suggs - 11 May 2006 03:15
If you like your kneecaps and dont support Chelsea (like me) dont even think about it. Shame they arent knocking it down.
AshfordBee - 10 May 2006 00:55
Full of lazy larger louts with nothing better to do than spend their miserable lives with other larger louts upon an evening.

The boys in here might like to try staying at home one evening with their families than try to create a second living room here.

Even sadder the 'girlfriends' who's only option is to go with their men to spend time with them. Ohhh deary.

One to be avoided at all costs.
anonymous - 17 Apr 2006 01:45
I'm sure everyone will be pleased to know that the Royal Hart is now not being knocked down for flats!!
El_Capitain - 4 Apr 2006 16:11
In answer to El_Capitain
Good. Glad to see the end of an awful pub.
anonymous - 28 Feb 2006 22:21
This pub is due to close and be knocked down in August to be made into flats.
El_Capitain - 27 Feb 2006 12:55
It looks rough, the people try and act rough and the beers rough....
anonymous - 23 Feb 2006 12:26
You will find that the Staines boys are actually Ashford boys, hence why they go mid week and sundays to the Hart as it their local pub. This pub isn't a bad pub and the drinks are cheaply priced.
El_Capitain - 22 Feb 2006 16:39
full of staines boys. nuff said.
anonymous - 4 Jan 2006 16:57
Went in here in 1997 when I was working near the station. It was rough as you like then and very scary (and that was lunchtime) so I've avoided it ever since. Looks like I made the right choice.
Cleversaz - 20 Aug 2005 15:36
avoided like the plague since that stabbing a while back.

been here once since, and it was laid back and seemed ok, I wouldn't want to make a habit of it!!
anonymous - 27 Jan 2005 22:42
Great if you're 16, up for pool and a fight. horrible decor, plain nasty.
Dave_ESB - 12 Jan 2005 22:32
The TV screen for watching sport is good. That is the only plus point for this pub.
Simon - 3 Oct 2004 14:42
Fancy a fight? Come right in! Day-glow colours give any patron a headache, and it's not just the walls, but the drinks as well. Mate of mine was in his car at the lights outside....had a full pint thrown at him. Lovely people!
Zod - 10 Sep 2004 15:58
We loved it, especially the Band The Mysterons.
Nice People
Mark - 30 Jul 2004 16:07
The Hart has gone through huge changes with yvonne being in charge... pretty much everyone who used to cause trouble don't anymore cos they're BARED! Glad Clare and Tinx don't work there anymore, moody feckers! Cherryl and Joe are top quality bar staff... Things are looking up :)
Adam - 24 Dec 2003 13:39
It's a good England Football pub, great atmosphere. the snack food was really nice. probably wouldn't go if The game wasn't on.
Alex - 6 Nov 2003 12:03
not a bad pub, but wont be as frequented unless they bring karaoke back properly!!!!!!! it was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got barred from here at 16 lol, like the new management more, they're always a good laugh
Kim - 17 Sep 2003 16:27
It has improved greatly since it has been given new management in the shape of the lovely Yvonne and her partner, Wullie.
