This used to be a decent pub but now you can't buy a drink unless you are eating. Supposed to be a seafood and steak reataurant but didn't see much evidence of seafood on the menu.
Went in the Sunday before Christmas for the carvery. At 12.95 a head it should have been spectacular, sadly this was not the case. It was ok but not particularly good and definitely not worth the money.
I live quite close and this place always appears to be pretty much empty so I don't think this enterprise will last much longer. 10 people in the place at lunchtime the Sunday before christmas says it all really.
Awaiting it's return to a proper pub as soon as possible.

Has had a refurbishment and trades as Whitelys Family Resturant.
The prices are such that a family could not afford to eat there!
The food was good, despite the cost, but the whole experience was let down by poor service.
Not the pub it was as the Robin Hood.

what a great pub. big enough to cope with the largest of groups yet laid out in a way that you don't feel overwelmed by the space. great menu with a combination of good home cooked meals at what I must say are very reasonably priced. I had 1/2 a roast chicken and my friend went for the liver and bacon and the bill was just 10 I think thats fantastic value. And it was really quite good. we will be back.

I sai8d we'd return, so we did. It was Friday, I am a fish-head, we had bro-in-law to entertain. The HSB was off so I went instead for Pride which was good. The fish was again excellent, tasting really fresh. Madam and bro-in-law both had ham and eggs; a nice touch was the reduction, not asked for but still given, because Madam only wanted a single egg rather than the two on the menu. All very satisfactory. Let me emphasize, I have ABSOLUTELY NO connection with the Robin Hood other than as a happy customer.

After finding it shut on Tuesday (on which day it closes all day) we decided today to try it for lunch. It was quiet, but two cars outside is two cars better than the previous tenants could manage by the end of their time there. There was a good range of hand pumped ales available: I went for the HSB which was just right. The menu on the board inside featured a range of panini-type snacks and half a dozen mains, something I find reassuring. A vast menu tends to indicate a similar-sized freezer. The board outside featured fish and chips every Friday - take away or eat in - so we decided to try it. It was excellent: we learned later that the fish had only arrived a few minutes before we had. Good batter and not too much of it, and tasty chunky chips. Recommended. We will certainly return.

This was quite a nice pub a couple of years ago. It has changed hands since then, not for the better. food was good back then and beer was as well. Once again the lease is up for grabs. so keep your fingers crossed, it may be a good pub again with good food.

When my wife and I first moved to the area, just over a year ago, we dined at the Robin Hood three nights running before we felt like cooking after the move. Last autumn it changed hands, and standards went down like a stone. No doubt the smoking ban hasn't helped, but customer numbers are way down and corner cutting is evident. We wanted a quick lunch during the week so thought we'd give it another try. Big mistake! The Ringwood bitter was OK, but the food was awful. My wife had a jacket with cheese. The potato was barely warm with a small handful of machine-grated cheese. My ploughmans had a mini-baguette roll, straight out of the freezer and into the microwave. One end was doughy, the other I couldn't bite through. But the cheese! For a ploughmans this consisted of another handful of the same well-aerated rubbish which garnished my wife's potato. Accompanying it was a handful of what my old food hygiene instructor called "The notorious pub salad" - a handful of lettuce brown at the edges. I was just about able to make a small cheese roll out of the edible ingredients. These two culinary gems cost 11. I estimate total cost of the ingredients at under a pound. This really was awful. It competes for last place in my pub food experience (which started in 1962) with the emetic dessert served up in the Links a few weeks ago.

I understand this pub is under new management now. The food was horrible. It actually made me feel ill I'm afraid. The starter was nice and seemed fresh (breaded mushrooms) but the main courses were terrible. My main was lasagna which despite telling the barlady more than once didn't come with any chips. It appeared to have been taken from a larger precooked lasagna (probably frozen) sprinkled with some cheese and then microwaved. This had the effect of a greasy topping and tough bits of pasta on the sides. My companion had fish in batter (which they also suspect may have seen a microwave to reheat it) with baked potato which was definitely reheated. The other person I was with had the cajun chicken which was ok but accompanied with a huge pile of strange fried overly spicy vegetables. I realise many pubs also microwave food for speed but they manage to still make the food appetising. To be fair, we visited on a day when they are doing a 2 meals for a fiver OAP offer (which we didn't have) so were deluged by a big party of OAPS so I wonder if they drop the standards as a result perhaps. In a nutshell though, not fresh, not nice and not recommended.

Went here for some food, as it used to be good. The baguette had been microwaved and was hard at either end, the lasagne also looked sloppy and microwaved. The other 2 dishes were nothing special. Give this pub a miss if you want good food.

First time I've been to this pub in about 10 years, but it hasn't changed as much as I'd expected. Very quiet for a Saturday night, a bit lacking in atmosphere. Choice of four ales, including HSB and Ringwood. Both these were in good condition, but served a little too cold.

Saturday 16th. Powercut added to the ambience. Various beers, HSB being very good. Food also partaken. We'll be back.

The other evening I went in here for the first time, since it has been refurbished.
It is a great pub, with six beers on hand pumps: Courage "Best"; Fuller's "London Pride"; Ringwood "Bitter" and "Fortyniner" and two others. We both had a pint of Ringwood's 'Bitter' which was well kept and served.
