Very decent, tiny pub right in the centre of Hanley, but none the worse for that. London Pride appears to be the key ale here, with at least two others on, including a very decent Landlord on this occasion. Apparently has a ghost, and although not seen on this occasion, also has a set of rails along which the barrels of beer used to be rolled to the cellar. Very decent stopping point.

Good old fashioned boozer with nothing going on except conversations. Ale choice a bit limited but definitely worth a visit for the building .

Decent, small town centre pub opposite the Regent Theatre. They do interval drinks for the theatre and serve a decent pint of two or three beers

The Unicorn is a good traditional town centre pub. 4 real ales were available on my Boxing Day visit - Hook Norton Jackpot, Leeds Midnight Bell, Exmoor Gold and Fullers London Pride, in addition to Westons Old Rosie cider. The single bar possesses several brass tables and has pots and pans and other paraphernalia hanging from the ceiling with copious Toby jugs hanging from above the bar. A nice pub. But the owners did not appear over-friendly.

It may be the best pub in Haley but it's the second best in Hanley. A decent smallish town centre locals pub which seems relatively unchanged over the years. Not a great ale selection - Pride and two guest summer ales. I tried the Midsummer Madness, the condition of which wasn't brilliant but it was drinkable. An alternative if you want a change from the Coachmakers.

Best pub in Haley

Went there on Monday. Lovely city centre pub of the kind that is almost extinct. No telescreen or chavs in sight. Proper range of drinks including some top single malts. Regrettably, it was very quiet when we were there, but if you're lucky you can get some decent people in here. Has to be marked down slightly for piped music. Not quite as good as the Coachmakers, but in a better location for the city centre.

You're better off here before the theatre or the Sugarmill/Underground, as all those venues are shite inside & the Stage Door is an inexcusable hovel. This is a very strong city centre pub. 8.

It's a really great pub, with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere every night of the week. It's always full (also because it's only one room) and you find all sorts of characters there, from long-standing regulars to Regent theatre goers (sometimes even the cast...). U are guaranteed a night to remember!

The best pub I've been to in Hanley. Small and cosy, lots of brass and olde world charm. Nice pint of Fuller's London Pride. Best place to sit is in the alcove at the back.

I wasn't in this pub for long but its very cosy, quiet so that you can hear each other speak and I love all the brass decorations on the walls and ceiling.

Would like to go back for a longer session.

Friendly service and no telly. The way a pub should be.

Probably the last good pub in Hanley. Cosy and inviting. The acoustic night on the last Sunday of every month is a must-see, especially the resident lunatic double-bass player who travels in from Birmingham specially and can play almost any standard you care to mention. Excellent roster of guest ales and friendly service. It gets very full on theatre nights, however.

This pub is in an ideal location smack bang in the middle of the city centre but just off the beaten path of the young trendy bars(in other words away from the noise and violence). It's right across from the Regent theatre and they will even reserve you a pint for the half time interval cheaper than the expensive crap and queues. Also just round the corner is the Sugarmill. The place is full of brass plates etc and is a relaxing haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but just concentrate when you are going to this pub as i've walked past it a few times and i'm a regular.
