Great place - great location on the village green in a picturesque cotswold location.

Four or five real ales on. Location wise, I should have gone for the Old Hooky, but I spied a new member of the Otter Family - Ottter Bright.

Couldn't resist a chance to try something new and I wasnt disappointed.

Wonderful, timeless place.

The Kings Head is a nice 16th century pub situated in a wonderful village, the staff were great and the food was fabulous! Well kept ales from Hook Norton Brewery and Butcombe. Really enjoyed the area with great walks and relaxing atmosphere. The locals and the Pub were also very friendly.

Lovely pub. Idyllic location and good cask beer.

I had a very nice pint of Butcombe beer in this pub after a very long walk from Kingham Station (The CAMRA Good Beer Guide states that an entry with a station symbol should be no more than half a mile from the station - well this pub actually has a road sign outside which says Kingham Station 1 mile !!) Sadly therefore I had not enough time to fully judge the pub but the setting is lovely and the interior is a mix of old and new furnishings with a dining room at the back. Three cask ales available (my pint was 3.20). I will try this place again - but perhaps not on foot!!

We stumbled upon this pub in 2008 and felt incredibly lucky to have done so. Brilliant food and lovely room. Service was spot-on. It would have been difficult to fault....However, our second visit wasn't the same experience. Unfortunately.

We came back to the hotel as part of our honeymoon in 2009, effectively because of the memories associated with the above post. Sadly this time much appeared to have changed. We weren't sure whether or not it was because the owners weren't present or if it was due to the heavy snowfall that month but the duty staff were surly and facilities were lacking. When we asked to eat in the restaurant the suggestion was rejected as there were too few guests for that to be viable. The bedroom needed a good dusting and the friendly atmosphere seemed reserved only for walk-in customers of the bar.

When this pub is busy and customer-focused, it's amazing. When it's quieter then it can let itself down. Shame really. We're torn between the two experiences and really hope the first visit was 'the norm'.

Will admit that the steak was very, very tasty and worth paying for.

The low user rating says it all. The situation is idyllic, but this place attracts a braying crowd of undiscriminating second-homers. As a result the drink and food prices are extortionate and the atmosphere totally out of keeping with the surroundings. There are many better pubs than this in the area.

Lovely location and pleasant interior but over priced food and drink. Service is fairly efficient although as soon as more than 3 people get to the bar, expect a wait. I wouldn't rush back as there as pubs which offer similar for much less.

Mr Edwards was really looking forward to a lovley weekend in the Cotswolds.
The location was superb, the range of beers good, but Fulham prices, the range of wines not so, again pricey.

Food pretty good but service was a bit hap hazard.

Room was tiny, bed fit for Lilliput. No central heating nor hot water after 10pm despite sub zero temperatures for two nights running. Sunday morning no running cold water, quelle surpsise!

Always be suspicious of light timers in hallways. It would appear to me that the Guvnr is just plain tight thus reflecting in the price, portions of food, having to ask for marmite at breakfast et al.I am not profit averse but this was Fagin.

Will not be returning nor recommending as far too pricey for what it is.

Well, I'm moved to post another comment after the one just below this one.

Turns out the staff were off again sadly. OK they were busy, but on a recent Friday night we came in, sat down at a table (no reserved sign) and went to the bar to order drinks and find out about food.

Barman (appeared to be the owner or manager) was quite abrupt, and when I asked to order food, it appeared we had broken some kind of unspoken rule that we hadn't booked. Was told someone would take our order sometime in the future.

After waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our order, we asked once, then again, and both times were told we needed to wait our turn and someone would deal with us eventually.

We were hungry and didn't want to leave, but although the beers and food (in the end) were very good, I will not be back as I don't want to be treated as a problem that the staff have to deal with. Disappointing.

Great location on the edge of Bledington village green. Outside tables out the front and back in the beer garden are a good spot. Nice building, didn't spend too much time inside though as it was a nice day.

Beers fine, food reasonably priced although the staff were a little off - forgivable though, I think this was as they'd just had the joy of serving some obnoxious locals who were obviously back from university from the summer and being very loud about it.

The King's Head has a lovely suituation in a picturesque, quite Cotswold village. There is a good range of real ales, and an unusually good selection of bottled fruit juices (the proper stuff, not just orange, grapefruit etc). There's lots of food here, if you want it, too. But having not eaten here, I can't comment.

Keep an eye out for travelling morris dancers, as groups sometime make a pilgrimage here in honour of the dances that come from the village.

After the contrast of busy Bourton, Bledington is more typical of a Cotswolds village and much more peaceful. Pub is in a great spot overlooking the village green. Old building, but decorated in a contemporary style. Went Good Friday without booking a table and were fortunate enough to get the last one. Very geared towards their excellent food, to the point where a group of drinkers were politely asked to give up their table so that some diners could take it instead (mixed feelings on this one)! Beers were very well kept: Wadworth 6X, Wadworth Henrys IPA and Hooky Bitter. Not much of an atmosphere though, and not particularly friendly staff, hence the lower mark.

A good middle of the road pub - done out in the standard style. Interesting menu, four real ales which were kept well. Staff not particularly friendly but adequate. Lots of space to find a corner though clearly geared towards eating rather than drinking.
