Carpenters Arms, Great Wilbrahamback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Nice friendly landlord but very disappointing re the food. Had the turkey and vegetable broth. Well presented but not good. He promised more than we got. Smelled a bit like dog food. Very small portion, luke warm and tasted like something that came out of a can. Bully beef and one carrot is the best I can describe it as. Not cheap either at 5.95 Maybe this was to pay for the posh loos?

The Carpenters is now owned bu my sister and brother-in-law, since taking the pub over in 2009 they have worked tirelessly to get the pub back to the thriving hostelry it once was. On the 17th of July this year they open their new restaurant to the public, I had the great pleasure to see the restaurant in the building stage, and it will be great to see it finished. I know that Heather and Rick will have great success and I'm not being biased because they are family, they made a great go of their restaurant in france. My sister is an ace chef and she can turn her hand to any style of cooking. Having helped in the bar at christmas last year her clientele are a friendly bunch and have made Heather and Rick so welcome

The Carpenters has now changed hands and though the pub has suffered from local neglect in recent years, it's now got the chance of a new lease of life. The hard part will be persuading the locals to use the place. A pub should be the heart of the village, but the Carpenters has a lot of work to do to achieve that. Many of us wish the new team the best of luck in making the pub an important part of the community.

This place has a very definite personality (and a very unusual landlord). It is mainly for locals. However, good, well-kept beer. I suspect that you have to have used it for years to be fully accepted.

This is a miserable place. We visited for the second time on a Saturday evening. There were seven people in the pub, five eating in the saloon bar and two playing pool in the public bar. The atmosphere was like a seaside resort in the middle of winter. No one was serving and it took ten minutes to rouse someone, who grumpily appeared from upstairs. His rude response showed that he had no interest in customer care. It is a shame, almost a crime to couples like us who enjoy a meal and good beer on a Saturday evening, that this pleasant village does not have a thriving pub. We quickly left and went to Fulbourn, where the Six Bells is always welcoming and has really good food.

Small, friendly, often quiet and with a limited but wholesome menu. The meals all look filling. Beer very good indeed - well kept. Would recommend this pub.
