The first time I went there the food was excellent, expensive but worthwhile as a treat. We went back there a couple of weeks later and the same food was exetremly ordinary, but still expensive. Won't be going back again in a hurry.

Drinks very expensive... charged around 3.70p for a pint of Guinness... food looks good ( though never eaten there ).... nice, clean and newly decorated...enjoy it 'YOU'RE PAYING FOR IT BIG TIME !'.. most of pub taken up with dining tables ( should be re- classified as a Restaurant ! )

Been to this pub for food twice, the first time was outstanding second time was last night. Ordered a chicken ceaser salad to start and hadddock for main. My partner had the vile to start and beef wellington for main. The ceaser salad arrived and I notice the chicken was very pinky/red. It didn't taste right so we go a waitress and asked for it to be removed from th bill (at this point i had only eaten one piece of chicken.) The pub manager then came over and seemed to be very rude and kept asking if i wanted it back. I told him i didn't want to chance it and he left us to carry on with the rest of our food.

Throughout the evening they made me feel very uncomfortable. When we had finished our main i felt pressured to have a desert which i declinced and asked for the bill. The bill arrived still having to pay the chicken salad and we were overall very dissapointed. We will not be going back and recommendation to friends and family will certainly be dissapointing too. It is a very expensive meal but it needs to be worth while.

Weve been to the Woodmans twice, in the last year or so. Its handy for us, as living close by its only a 10 minute walk.
It is a little pricey, and Im not really a fan of food being presented as art. Saying that, the quality of the food is excellent, and served by friendly staff. On my first visit I had Sea Bass, which is what my wife ate on our second visit. It tasted beautiful, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
This time I had the Fillet Steak. Again a lovely piece of steak, nicely cooked. It came with sweet potatoes, which although very nice, I found a touch too sweet as a compliment to the steak. Thats only a minor quibble though.
My wife couldnt manage a sweet, but helped me with my mixed sorbet.
Other minor quibble, the wine wasnt chilled, and the wine list was a touch limited.
I would certainly recommend the Woodmans Arms.

Price:-
Soup Pate
Fillet Steak Sea Bass
Mixed Sorbet
Bottle of Rose
Total 63-10p

i'm not too keen on this pub because;
1. Expensive food
2. Expensive beer
3. Very small bar area
4. If you are not eating, you are made to feel slightly less welcome than those who are.

Apart from that, its great.

Excellent Christmas dinner menu. Good home cooked food, friendly efficient staff, totally non-smoking.
Drinks a bit pricey but overall atmosphere and quality food makes it worthwhile. Small, intimate with a warm welcome!

I like 'spit & sawdust' pubs; I don't like Gastro Pubs

The new management have changed a 'spit & sawdust' local into a top-quality Gastro Pub. Nice decor and furniture that won't be ruined by a smokey atmosphere - The whole place is non-smoking! I've eaten here on three different occasions and the food is absolutely excellent.
