Sadly, Haigys is now closed. Another great Bradford pub bites the dust.

I have gone off this place a bit recently. Not as friendly as some of the other real ale haunts in the neighbourhood (e.g. Beehive, Castle, City Gent, Jacobs) and the ale range seems to veer to only have lower alcohol choices (normally nothing > 4.5%).

No sign of violence (as per previous review) on our Tuesday evening visit, despite the fact that Bradford were playing at home that night. Service was friendly. The pub was preparing to show live football with a large screen and another TV. There is a reasonable selection of ales - Wharfebank Tether Blonde, Salopian Lemon Dream, Ossett Route 66 & Tetley's Bitter & Mild. Westons Old Rosie was on too. Not as good as the Fighting Cock and more of a bar than a pub. But I do recommend this one. It's well worth a visit.

A strange venue. Been there a few times with a delinquent crew of mid-week drinkers, mainly because it has a late licence. Ended up one night being punched by a guy (entirely unprovoked) and witnessed another guy turned threatening, had to be thrown out, he put his fist through the window and then stuck his head through to tell us he was going to kill us all :-Z

Having said that, once you get past the stress of violence suddenly raising its head its actually quite a nice place. Always have some good real ales on and plenty of snacks. Landlord and landlady are very pleasant.

Haigy's is an excellent real ale pub and well worth a visit after a Bradford City match as its only 10 minutes walk away and is in the general direction of the city centre.
In fact I'd recommend a mini real ale pub crawl, starting at Haigy's, then the New Bee Hive, the Castle, then drop into town and go to the Sir Titus Salt before heading for the Karachi for a superb traditional Bratfud curry.

Always a port of call when we're in Bradford. Real ales tend towards the popular pale hoppy types and the prices are very good. Handy if you want a curry afterwards, as there's one of Bradford's better curry houses just along the road (The Sweet Centre).

Haigys is a great pub, friendly atmosphere, nice environment. Staff are really lovley, they often put out free snacks and often free home made meals which are really very good. Good place to go on match days as it is a manin place for the fans, open late on weekends with karaoke, DJ etc.
Good heated smoking area with outside television. Function room and outside seating area. Prices are really reasonable, not a rip off like most places!

I try get here as often as possible, the best bar snacks anywhere, sausages, pies, pasties all piping hot, yum-yum.
A real ale drinkers paradise, always makes the Good Beer Guide.
Very busy on match days (close to the football ground) so if you don't like busy pubs i'd steer clear and go after 3pm kick-off time. It's open late every night with a disco-karaoke on saturday nights (some bad singing here)

I was in last night and there was free sausage, pizza and sausage rolls as well as the always excellent beers (not free sadly), don't know if its cos City were at home

good beer and late licence everyday. Landlord is strict so no Knob Heads and he looks dead grumpy but he's ok. Last 2 visits he kindly provided a sausage supper (big juicy home-made type)althogh no food is on offer. Believe me after curry upon curry in Bradford you'd welcome a tasty sausage.
