Popped in for a few beers last night, there to see a stand up routine as part of the Edinburgh Festival. Friendly bar staff, a variety of beers and whiskies on offer, and quite a few bargains too. Me and my mate were drawn to the two bottles of San Miguel for 3 offer!

Good wee outdoor bit too.

Also an MP3 jukebox which was tempting. Mate put on a few tunes but seemed like the bar staff, when they didn't like a tune, turned it down or off altogether! That's a minor thing obviously, otherwise a good pub!

Holyrood 99...Read your thread on ThePunchPubForum and publogger the Illicit Still website how you leased this pub in 2007 from PunchTaverns. Last entry Nov 07. Genuinely hope you and your mate made a go of it. Please make a donation to Chris its the least you can do for a years free advertising.

This pub has recently changed hands and the transformation is total. Great guys behind the bar, a nice feel to the place, none of the ogres who inhabited it in its downward spiral of the past few years...

Reasonably priced beer, and a HUGE selection on draft. The wines are damned good, especially the Shiraz, and they do good real coffees, too.

You can have a drink on your own and watch the world go by at the window seats, or cosy up on the booths at the back.

Great pub!

I pass this pub every day and have been watching its transformation from its former incarnation over the past few months.

It opened on Saturday the 5th of October so I popped in for a pint.

Although it looks somewhat similar in shape and size as it did before closing down around a year ago, the look of the place and warm, welcoming, atmosphere was greatly appreciated.

There are two real ales on tap, Caley 80' and Duchars IPA. Also available are Hoegaarden, fosters super chilled, strongbow ice, John Smiths extra smooth, Tennents Iced and Stella.

I got chatting to the new owners and found out that they were just a couple of guys giving the running of a pub a bit of a go. They seemed very down to earth and want to make the place a nice decent, cozy, pub to enjoy a pint, have a blether a bit of a laugh and some decent beer.

They informed me that their 50 inch plasma is arriving very soon but will not be showing any sport on Sky unless they drastically reduce their prices for pub subscriptions.

I spent a pleasant couple of hours there and would highly recommend it to anyone who worked or lived in the area. 10/10. Just what the area needs, a lovely little, local pub with great tasting beer.
