please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

If people in a village dont use a pub, then it`s their own fault when they shut, it`s no good using it once a year and saying it`s your local, not good enough, others be warned !!!!!!

This pub can only make a go of it if it was a `free house` so GK wake up and smell the hops !!!!

Another new management couple that have brought the lease same old story of not doing a lot with it. Not a lot if any pub experience, when will peopel learn.

went in last week. it has been taken over by a very nice older couple, very friendly. they are doing a lot of curry now apparently.

i have heard this has been sold to an older couple who have not run pubs before.... when are these pubco's going to learn and invest in people with skills and experience.

there are a temp management couple here at the moment which is a real shame. the beer was o.k but the clientelle are a little strange shall we say.

yet another pub has fallen due to a pubco. the crown has now closed and the landlord has unfortunately gone bust. all thanks to green king. they will put some idiot in there now and loose a great publican. i wish people would hit these pubco's where it hurts them, in the pocket.

i had a lovely sarnie here about two weeks ago. the landlord is very friendly and the place is clean.

apparently you can buy this pub for 60,000. there is a sign inside the pub. how dreadful and what a shame for our pubs today to have been brought to this.
neil10 - 18 Mar 2009 20:01
o.k for a pint or two, not so sure this is the place to go for food?
mike52 - 18 Mar 2009 19:29
good for village pub standards

Had a lovely couple of hours in here the other night the beer was on top form, the garden looks good for the summer if we get one.

i stopped here recently and have to agree that the landlord is very friendly, unfortunately he was telling some locals he is leaving. a real shame as these old pubs need a personality.

WONDERFUL! At last, a pub with a Landlord and Landlady! Peter is an amiable host and Linda a great cook. The locals are very welcoming and friendly and the food excellent. True toasted sandwiches are a delight! Also boasts an excellent dry area for smokers, between the pub and the large garden. Children and dogs welcome. "Old Trip" is excellent although 3.00 a pint.

Called in there yesterday for Sunday Lunch was very impressed with the food and the price of it and the beer i had (Old Trip) was very well kept!
Shall be paying another visit in the near future

the food was o.k....but the animals walking around put me off a little. if you just want a pint and a sandwich this is not a bad place.

Called in with my wife for a sandwich lunch on the 29 January, yummy (properly) toasted ham and cheese with a nice salad, two drinks 9.50 - excellent value for money but I accept some drinks are a bit pricey. There was also a friendly crowd of locals just chatting merrily in a mixed age group, A very good example of an ordinary village pub with high standards 7/10

I was on the walk with melteagle and agree with his comments. Everyone would love a local like this and, even though the Old Bob was expensive, it wasn't half nice!

A friday lunchtime stop 'en route' a circular walk from Loxwood taking in part of the Wey and Arun Canal(currently being restored) in a beautiful village

Excellent food(Chicken curry) and atmosphere although my choice of Ridley's 'Old Bob' was very expensive - 3.00 a pint - most I have EVER paid for a pint in a pub anywhere in the UK - should have stuck to IPA

All that a pub should be(apart from the beer price)

Great village pub, friendly and welcoming to all. The change since the new landlord and lady have taken control has been dramatic. A focus of village life, something that had been missing for years. Good proper pub food and the beer is just right.
