Wingnutt it look`s like the staff got in before you could comment on your visits, as spudnik and emersondf only visit one pub I would sujest they get out more or let everyone know when they will be calling again so we all can have a good meal..
Until then we will take your advice wingnutt and avoid thankyou.

It has taken me a long time to register to this site so i can let anyone reading this know of the appauling experience we have had at the Mill Tavern Haslemere the last THREE times we have been there. This pub used to be superb but it has gone dramatically down the pan! 1st time of the 3, we arrived on sunday at 1.20pm for lunch and were told, due to big parties booking we could not order food until 2pm (The pub had hardly anyone in it!) which we agreed to and were given menus and table, at 2pm i went to order and was told it would be 2.30pm before we could order, as we were hungry and considering the time we waited, only to be told at 2.30pm they had closed the kitchen which left our party hungry and with no time to go anywhere else. The second time we thought we would give them another chance as it might have been a bad day. We arrived around the same time and ordered drinks and food then waited 45 mins for our starters which were average, and thats being kind, we proceeded to wait 55 mins for our mains before giving up and walking out, but todays experience, which was by far the worst (only went back due to unfortunate circumstances) we thought if we booked it might be ok, i couldnt have been more wrong, we again ordered drinks and food (this time no staters) and yet again waited 45 mins for our meal which when it arrived the only thing which was hot about it was the plate, the food was awful and when we said (after 2 other angry cusomers refused to pay) the food is cold i was told sorry there was a problem with the oven and we didnt want to send you home, instead of being sent home we got cold food. it was taken back and we said we would pay for the childrens meals and the salmon as they were just acceptable (JUST). The woman in charge proceeded to argue that we should pay more as some people had eaten SMALL amounts of their, to be honest, absolutely rubbish food, we felt like she was accusing us of trying to get a free meal. I have never been so insulted by a waitress in my life. It is such a shame as the pub itself is beautiful and could be so nice. i strongly recommend if you're thinking of going to the Mill Tavern to reconsider.

Great Pub, warm welcome, lovely food, relaxed atmosphere. They have obviously just had some work done as the toilets and reception area were all glistening!! We all had a fantasic meal and was impressed with waiter who made us all feel so welcome. Would highly recommend.

Having only recently moved to the area we have been visiting the local pubs and restaurants to find out where the best places are for evening out and to take family and friends. We visited The Mill Tavern last weekend end and had a wonderfull time. The food was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was brilliant. We all had a great time and have put this place at the top of our list.....

Disappointing. On the plus side there was a fair range of real ales, and no quibble about serving lunch at 2.30. There is also a big garden with plenty of tables, but when the food came it was, as others have noted, of no better than average quality. Helpings overlarge, burgers dry and served on chewy ciabatta bread which was not an improvement on the usual soft bun. And difficult to get to the bar past the kind of regulars who mistakenly think that they own the place.

A really poor experience. It took over an hour for our order to come through. Food order was wrong, drinks order was wrong, bill was wrong. Food was average and service was slack. A real shame as the setting and the garden is lovely.

We've eaten here several times over the last few months and even taking our respective families there. The bar is very small but the staff are polite and a good range of beers. The food is in our opinion the best pub food in Haslemere, its a tad pricey but its good and so is the service.

Probably one of the better pubs in the area. Excells at serving good white plate food. On the day of my visit (Christmas eve) it was very busy, however my food order came out quickly and perfectly cooked. Range of ales was adequate too. Pleasant atmosphere, very enjoyable. bar staff were very friendly and helpful too despite being busy.

Went for Sunday lunch there today, and found just a fairly limited barbecue as the only fare: very average grub actually, e.g. the burger was clearly one of those frozen 'meat steaks', the salad nothing special. Prices, very high though e.g. 9.95 for a Ceasar salad, 8.95 for that really disappointing so-called burger. The staff were slow, with a propensity to argue, got my drinks order wrong and tried to make out it was my fault. Trying to be a gastro-pub but seemingly staffed (run by) by chancers on the make in a place hwere the average lower middle class punter seems to have more money than sense.

Fantastic food and great, well kept, real ales. I live locally and do agree with Steve's comments re "locals". It can appear a little "clicky" especially as the specials boards is behind where they stand and they seem to think you are staring at them when perusuing the menu. However, it is easier to get served at the left hand end of the bar where the locals seem to fear. All that said I have never had any trouble after asking people to move so I can get to the bar/boards and they are quite friendly really, especially after 6 or 7 pints of Old Speckled Hen!

Must agree with Brian's comment above. Great pub, great beer, great food, great atmosphere. The bar is usually clogged up with "locals" who refuse to move even an inch to let you get served.

Excellent selection of beer. Good pub grub but by the time the bar staff get round to serving you - you need another shave. Get you act together and HIRE MORE STAFF!!

They have a family room but in the summer there is a large garden.
