I think this pub could do with some more recent comments. It has been refurbished in the last year or so, and the lounge bar/restaurant is perfectly acceptable. (I haven't been in the bar.) The menu is not ambitious, but provides a reasonable and tasty selection, with regular specials available. Staff are friendly and the owner does much of the cooking himself. On my last visit a couple of weeks ago no real ale was available, though I was told it was coming. So to check I called in again today and found a palatable pint of Greene King IPA on tap.
It has improved considerably, and the management are trying hard. Deserves support.

The Thursday Curry Club promotion is really worth a go. A superb Beef Madras, as hot as I think I could take, and a pint for 6.99. Great food, great service and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Definately a mans pub for the locals, plenty of swearing and choice language, scruffy bar staff and greasy food. As a tourist I certainly wont be back nor will I be recommending it to anyone!

Nice pub serving premium ales and malts. Menu could be improved, otherwise a healthy portion given. Great seating arrangements also excellent beer garden to the rear of the building. Manager rather grumpy however pleasant waiting staff change the mood.

Lacks all the necessary ingredients for a family retreat. Nice menu, although tired and aggressive looking staff - may i suggest a group dynamic scheme. Beers outstanding although service can be tardy at times. Management in need of drastic boot up the proverbial before the place deteriorates. Apart from that, nice relaxed restaurant with cosy seating layout

Out of all the pubs in Scotland i have visited so far, this has been the worst. Warm beer, terrible background music, unpleasant lingering odours and not forgetting the curly hair i found in my penne pasta! A word of advice for the proprietor - 'Cheer up, i thought this was a family place!' Very noisy public bar, also felt very uneasy when approached by a drunken local. Maybe just picked a bad day for a bar meal, nevertheless a giant step-up should be made...

Manager a bit miserable, but very nice pub. Exterior paint scheme is disgusting though

No atmosphere in the bar music very low and surly management who appeared happier perched at the bar than serving behind it! Building itself very nice although let down by exterior facade.Food average almost luke warm by the time it evantually arrived.Overpriced and slightly bland menu with no real spark. Also felt very cold in the whole building.

New and very friendly management (remember Lorna and Chic?) good bar with many of the original features, but through the back there is a very well furnished lounge bar/restaurant.

Real Ales, huge choice of Malts, enjoy the patter from Lorna, Chic and the experienced staff.

A must for a visit - which will turn into series!!
