Unfortunately it is still closed and boarded up - I don't know whether it is likely to reopen.

Basic pub with welcoming landlady. OK pint of Black Sheep. Obviously do more ales on tap but two pump clips turned round on my visit. Food served all day and menu looked great. Had a roast beef and onion bagette which more than made up for the poor selection of ales on the day. Pub needs a little bit (not too much!) of a redec and replacement of some of the worn out furniture. Comment about locals being "menacing" quite ridiculous - kept themselves to themselves and discussed upcoming betting on football. Idea that regulars always have to greet casual visitors to their pub as long lost friends is absurd. Sometimes you need to make the effort!
Will return if ever in the area again.

I will admit that I am biased as this has been my local for the last 25 years. I have known it through both good and bad times, and believe me during the 1980s there were some bad times. Now it is a traditional local pub that caters for all types of customers. The beer selection is wide and is of good quality, with at least 2 real ales on tap. There is a large menu ranging from snacks to full meals, normally available throughout the day. The bar staff are friendly, and the owner or his wife are always on site. It is well worth a visit - us regulars, who comprise of local residents and contractors working at Heathrow, will always afford a welcome and a chat to any strangers who visit.

P.S. Unlike the other contributors I do not do this anonymously!

this is a fab little pub, staff seem to be more like part of your family as was made so welcome, had got here early evening looking for bite to eat, the landlady not only took the time to go through the menu with me but also pointed out the other eating establishments in the area, i did have something to eat at the red lion and the plates were overflowing with hot tasty home cooked food, which i may add you get to see less and less of home cooked food nowdays, stayed a while after this to have some drinks as the pub was full of atmosphere and friendly local customers, i did venture out to try one of the other establishments but quickly made my way back to the red lion. the staff welcomed me back like an old friend they'd known for years, and remembered my name and drink.
will definatley be returning here

I dont know how that last person can comment on this pub like that, this pub is so friendly, and as for the customers they are so kind and welcoming, there was a travelling man in there and he invited me to the table and gabbed away so what that person said was a load of rubbish.. i had meal with my husband and the meal was huge for the price and home cooked very enjoyable and i will be visiting this establishment again

This is a dirty little pub. The staff we met were friendly enough, although I am told the landlady is a tough cookie. The beer wasn't very good and to be honest, when we looked around we decided against ordering food so we cannot comment on that. Some of the locals looked quite menacing and they didn't make us feel at all welcome. A sigh of relief when we left!!
